The biggest, single crit (in general) would be from a tripple WF crit in enhancement spec with good gear & above average 2 hander. I think it would be possible to achieve triple WF crit total of around close to 8.5K with full merc gladiator gear and a complimentary 2 hander, such as Gorehowl or Deep Thunder. If you somehow managed to get your Deep Thunder upgraded to Stormherald (

) then you would be an unstoppable monster of a shaman. In PVP situations, you would be able to 1 shot most classes with no problem.
In saying that tho, tripple WF crits don't happen very often, and I would have to say that Elemental DPS > Enhancement DPS (in most cases). This also depends on whether you are specced right, and also on the player playing the shaman. Your avg crit (Chain Lightning) with elemental spec with about 700 spell damage is 3.1K, not taking into consideration of the damage reduction of resilience. But generally, with about 35% to crit with nature spells, you'll be criting alot more often.

Biggest Crit I've ever seen was a 22k Chain-Lightning crit. Yes, it was arranged, but damn. It involved a bunch of Priests who used Power Infusion on the Shammy, along with every trinket activated and a ton of buffs. Was pretty nasty. I don't think this can be replicated anymore, and this was Pre-BC.
Enhancement sucks because the core of the spec depends on a 20% overall proc rate of Windfury. Triple crits are very rare...with top of the line gear(full S2 + Vet gear), you have just over a 2% chance of gaining the legendary Triple Windfury crit..when Windfury is activated, so the actuall overall percentage drops significantly when considering all auto-attacks. Plus, your Windfury attacks can be dodged, missed, parried, or blocked.

i believe it involved a power infusion priest and a crap ton of stormstriking enhancement shamen for the stacking 20% damage boosts (i dont think you can stack on power infusions)

Back when stormstrike added a separate debuff for each shaman, and one nature damage attack took one charge from each.

I'm only a 47 shammy on Haromarush, yet i'm getting 3x crits x2 with 2 windfury-charged daggers + Flurry + Shammy Rage + Grace of Air Totem... I've been grinding ZFK like that for a while now, but i think that with the new patch, the shammy has gotten ganked for survivability. It used to be that i could rush in and not care about health for 3 battles, and now i have to stop and rest after each one.... (This includes damage mitigation with totems.)

I'm not sure why poeple are saying that tripple WF crits are rare. As a DW endgame raiding enhance shaman, i get triple WF crit all the time. It all depends on your crit chance, if you are in a raid (high dmg with LotP, Battle shout, sunders, etc.), arena or BG farming. After the last patch, enhancement shamans can go a whole raid without drinking or using shamanistic rage once, while elemental shamans still have to shug super mana pots in long fights. CO\oming back to the original question, if you want to go elemental, wait till outlands, it isnt as fast or reallyu as good as enhancement till then. At 70, both specs can go insane crits and sustained damage, it all depends on your play style.

Bit of friendly advice.. a DW Shaman is not like a rogue. You want slow weapons.. in both hands especially if you put WF on both. The "golden mean" is 2.6 speed weapons.
