It wouldn't suprise me if Blizz made the next hero class a healer. They made DKs tanks to help witht he lack of tanks and there's a good chance they'll do the same thing with healers, even if dual specs will greatly help in both of these regaurds.
I enjoy playing my priest to much to want to heal as something else, but I might decide to level one up just to try it out. I fully expect them to be like DK tanks though...95% of those who roll them won't be able to do crap, and as a result the servers will be flooded with retards who think they can heal, but don't know the first thing about it.

Didn't Warhammer have a battle mage? Didn't LotRO have some kind of healer/DPS hybrid?

I do have a appetite for healing classes, but I don't spec them all holy/resto. I think I stick to priest, she survived tbc -> wotlk and my priest is only getting more and more fun with each patch so far.
I do wonder what we get as hero class healer. I guess it will be either a complete new system of healing, or just something with a lot instants. Cause HoTs, AoE, Shielding and Direct heal are already used trough the current healers. And every one of those rolls already got a spec dedicated to it.

I've heard chatter about a "Witch Doctor" class, which is certainly possible, but not likely because of the way it wouldn't fit with the current story line/game theme. It WOULD be interesting to see how that goes though...
Providing Wards and cool stuff like that... Almost Shamanistic, like in WC3.
Other than that, from previous Warcraft Lore, there isn't much else they can implement as a new class... but WAIT! Maybe they'll finally make good on the long awaited introduction of the Pandarens again! They'd probably get along well with the Dwarves for their love of the drink-ahol...

What they also could do is have more of a hands on healer. Perhaps a healer that is not casting to do spells. Kind of like making lay on hands the regular spell as opposed to a cd so they can still heal while being strangulated in arena's.

I think Shamans were designed to act like a witch doctor.
However, the Pandaren would be cool, and I am sure that there is a link from a topic in wowhead to official forums, with a very well-thought idea of introducing the Pandaren, but what would the healing hero class be?
And I thought Emerald Dream was going to be the next expansion...

The power of blizzard is making classes out tiny things. Did people serious think 2 years ago Death Knights would join the horde and alliance as good guys and got a fitting lore with it too? There are many, many possible classes, ideas and sparks trough th earlier games. Blizzard can do anything with Lore to make it fit!
It's more the mechanics thats going to look like other healer classes, and they are careful when it comes to making a healer class without mana, it would be harder to balance it to the mana classes or all mana classes end with mana regen compared to the "energy/rage/runicpower/" of the new healer class.
Also witch doctors, I don't think so, altrough they are more unique then
just
shamans. (

Witch doctors can be described as a shaman alchemist.

I believe that they have a goal set for the true End of the Game Expansion to have us at a level cap of 100.

Elaborate please ;o !
I don't know quite how? I think it was just considered to be the "envisioned level cap". Read it in a blue post somewhere a while back. I don't really want to go sifting to find it. :-(

As long as there is cash to farm, blizzard will milk WoW! There is no hard level cap, no estimate numbers of expansions. At this point nothing beyond 3.1 is 100%. We got some vague clues here and there.
And you can level to like level 255 on private servers. ^_^ So thats another 17 and a half worth of expansions.
And there is always chance for a WoW2, or just a Warcraft IV, or something that will milk the Lore.

One problem with the Pandarens.

blizzard has a huge part of their gaming from china.

Is is REALLY that big a deal? I mean we kill eagles all the time in this game. Do you see Americans getting offended?
Maybe I just don't understand the China-Panda bond?

There is usually a level cap of 100, but that doesn't mean wow will last that long.
Loot at it like this. 2 Key designers have already left WoW to the unannounced MMO. More will soon follow in order to facilitate its release within 2010/2011 in conjunction with another huge MMO release, Guild Wars 2.
Blizzard have already started to milk the lore and the money from its customers. Many high level players (I no a few) have already said they and their teams are already looking to peel off into another MMO as WoW is stale and close to being dead in the water in many aspects. Content is taking longer and has been copy and paste in order to maximize downtime in tweaking and tuning of the game as a whole, therefor saving money.
There are lots of other reaons. But if were going to talk about this when i will start another thread?

It's illegal in China to show images of pandas being harmed or killed.
Nope, but they still don't
approve
of it. (Think at Warcraft III.)
And blizzard can always
censor
it.
And this
post
explains Blizzard opinion.
Although the company designs its games to the tastes of its own staff, Morhaime said you do have to be sensitive to other cultures. He brought up the Chinese panda race in Warcraft III, and noted that Chinese players didn't appreciate seeing the characters dressed up in Japanese samurai-style garb. After a significant outcry from the Chinese gaming community, the company quickly revamped the art on the panda race and found that gamers were appreciative of these revised efforts.
Now go be a panda and don't die.
