Weather revamp?

Since they are revamping the whole of Azeroth and water, why not revamp the weather too? So we could see some wind, hail or some other natural weather phenomena. Especially wind would be a cool effect.
I was thinking of seasons too, but that might get annoying when you see the weather outside is crap and then you log onto WoW and it's crap there too lol. Then again you could make it so that weather changes only on certain locations.
Suggestions / opinions?

It could probably be toned down (or toggled off) like other graphics effects.
Clouds could look better too, they are horrible pixelmasses now.

They need to change the way zone-based weather effects work. It's weird when you're in Elwynn forest and it's pouring, and then you transition into Stormwind and suddenly it's bright and sunny.
Actually, an even better example is Mulgore/Thunderbluff. Since TB is "inside" Mulgore (instead of adjacent as with Stormwind/Elwynn), you can get a weird "rain on, rain off" effect by going back and forth between TB and Mulgore if you walk between the mesas on the ground, or are perhaps on a the flight path going into or out of TB (which, if I recall correctly, transitions across the zone boundaries a couple of times).
Very weird and annoying, and something that I hope they get around to addressing.

Yeah, you're right. That eats a lot of depth from the game.
Other I have noted is that when you jump when it is raining, the volume of the rain momentarily increases. If you get what I mean...

I'd much rather see Azeroth have a realistic global day/night pattern. Nothing screams flat-earth like it being the same time on all points of the world.

That would interfere with server time mechanics though.
There can be 'server time' and 'Azeroth time'. No reason they couldn't co-exist.

Darnassus/Teldrassil is another great (annoying) example. It can be raining everywhere in Teldrassil, including Rut'theran Village which is totally isolated from the rest of the zone and you have to port there, but not in Darnassus. This is especially awkward as, the way Teldrassil is in the game, 95% of the zone and Darnassus sit down inside the trunk while Rut'theran is down on the outside at the base.

So you want to walk through a totally destroyed Barrens with fissures and explosions and everything... But on top of that, there are windstorms, hail, rain, etc.?
That'd be fun...
<Middle of a hailstorm>
Person: CAN'T SEE ANYTHING!
Person 2: JUST WAAALKKLK!
<5 seconds later>
Person 2: PERSON!
Person 2: WHERE'D YOU GO!
Person: I fell into this big whole created by an explosion... Stupid hail is screwing up my screen and my Gfx card is failing!

I dont know if blizz is re-vamping azeroth because of the forum requests or if it was thier plan all along. I would hope they put effort into the weather systems, time and season changes. I'd like to see lightening and moving clouds. Also a rare tornado in westfall or mulgore. Mabe have a seperate patch that was optional to download for all the special but trivial effects. For example, leaves on the ground (fall) that move when your toon walks through them. Water puddles and snow will accumulate on the ground. In spring, your toon randomly sneezes, with a "these alergies will be the death of me'" macro.

I would love to see interactive weather. Lightning storms that can hit you. Hail that makes you tick for 1 damage every 5 seconds. Also the mobs get affected. Nothing like an Enginering lightning Rod: effect: Durring a lightning storm throwing this at your target will cause it to get hit by lightning. Just hope you don't get hit holding it.
But nothing to bad like
OMG I CAN"T SEE THROUGH THE RAIN.
unless its a phased rainstorm like a quest part or something.

I've always loved rainy weather in Azeroth. They should really make more places AND capital cities weather aware. Things falling from the sky always gave me a 'cosy' feel.
