Now correct me if I'm wrong but last time I checked Paladins had more, because of lower basehealth they aint to far ahead, its a scaling issue as usual though
They get 8% stamina from their "Imp Disciplines" talent (2 talent points) and another 6% from their "Vitality" talent (3 talent points). I don't know about lower base health, but paladins have 1 less armor slot (our ranged slot). However, yes, it does come down to a scaling issue then.
Also, anyone else bothered by the fact that Paladins get their 10% "One Handed Weapon Spec" damage bonus for 3 talent points whereas we pay 5?
Meh... this is why I don't try and compare classes and just try and be happy with what I have. Wish I could get 8% stamina from out Imp Disciplines talent...

the only real difference is
pallies are sustained threat, warriors are bursts of threat
warriors have better single target threat, pallies have better survivability
warriors have a smaller stamina bonus than every other tank, pallies get a cheat death mechanic...umm ok
pallies are generally your cruise control while warriors are your overdrive so while warriors require much more skill they'll be rewarded for it with superior tanking
Paladins have only just received their cheat death mechanic. Warriors have been tanking with Last Stand for so long that you forget we didn't have anything of the sort.
I disagree that Pallies are your cruise control. We can't get away with spamming a single ability (*coughdevastatecough*) to survive. You also have an AoE ability to slow down attack speed - paladins can only apply that to a single target.
You've got a passive shield spike effect. You've got more passive damage mitigation. Hell, you've got a casting priority rotation, rather a strict 'to be followed' rotation. Who's the one on cruise control?

I wish I didn't need to pay 3 talent points for my Improved Righteous Fury to get a mere 6% damage reduction from my tanking stance either.
Anyway, I'm levelling a Prot Warrior on the side now (since the girlfriend started playing on a new server, RaF ftw), so I'll get to experience the joys of both sides soon enough.

I've tanked as DK/Warrior/Paladin in every instance and I can definately say that warrior is the hardest. And Paladin being the easiest.
And how the hell can warriors get away with spamming 1 ability... devastate is like barely used aside for its sunder effect lol
Maybe that's why you found warrior the hardest; you don't know the class very well.
Not that I'm saying we just spam devastate and are then fine, that's not true. However, Devastate is 50+% of my GCDs, 25% of my total damage, and probably around 30% (estimated) of my total threat.

Ive been a prot warrior since lvl 1 and not till recently when i was all epic geared def capped and over 30k hp unbufffed did i duel spec so I would say that I am above avrg warrior tank and rarly have proplems tanking in raids or 5 mans theres only two huge diff that i notice from a warrior and pally tanks mages and warrlocks that spam aoes off the get go kill warriors cause thunder clap is great when u charge in to start your mob control but until u pop it 1 more time on the mob a high dpsing mage or lock will pull them right off you so dps order is more import with a warrior tank and picking up lota adds from dist is not as easaly done for a warrior as a paladin but i think the same let the warrior concrete aggro before spaming mass aoes and u will fly through instances alot faster but anybody skilled and knowledged with there toon in either class makes a great tank.
You used 178 words and only had 1 period. This is incorrect. For everyone's sake, please use more periods in the future. Thank you.
On the subject of tank AoE, I would almost prefer that classes AoE rather than direct damage. Unless you are marking targets (and honestly, who does that any more), AoE gives good Damage Per Second to the casters (which they like), and also spreads a nice, low-ish amount of threat to all targets (which I like as a tank).
Where I have problems is when I have a mage lighting up one target and a warlock lighting up a different target with their direct damage spells. If they were AoEing, they would probably be doing ~1,000 threat per second to each of 3 or 4 targets and maybe doing 4000 DPS. I can easily do more than 1,000 TPS to multiple targets. However, if they are doing Direct Damage to multiple targets, warlock is putting his full 4000 DPS into target One (so lets say 3500 TPS), and mage is doing 4000 DPS into target Two (so another 3500 TPS). In order for me to hold agro on both of those targets, I would have to do around 8000 TPS split between two targets. That's much harder than Thunderclapping on cooldown and throwing a bunch of cleaves and devastates all over.
So yeah, I'd much prefer the Destro Locks I group with to just keep dropping Rain of Fire on everything. It's much better than him arbitrarily picking a target and unloading Immolate, Conflag, Chaos Bolt into it. If he picked the same target that I shield slammed, I'm all good; if not, I'm boned and that mob is running off.
Which is another whole difficulty in itself! As soon as a DPS pulls agro, I need to switch my attention, acquire the target, taunt, and then put threat into it. During all this time, the other DPS in the group are still wailing away on other targets while my attention is diverted. It's all down hill from there.
