Warlocks from a tank's point of view

First, I wanna say I don't play a warlock (well, I do, but he's lvl18) - I am protection pally. And always, ALWAYS, if there is a warlock in the raid/hc group he is below me on Omen.
I don't have threat issues, I leave other classes with tiny, tiny bars on Omen once I get it going, but if there is a warlock - he is ALWAYS second on threat, and ahead of the other classes by far.
I don't have problem tanking to 5k-6k DPSers, except if he's a warlock. The other day, on my HC farm, I almost had to pay attention on
trash
(something that isn't necessary in heroics - Concecration and our paladin cleave is enough to keep trash on me until it dies), because 4k dps warlock was pulling from me. On bosses, where I could do my rotation properly, he was pulling dangerously close too - it took as much as missing 2-3 global CDs from him to pull aggro. He said he was pvp speced, though.
So, I gotta ask you guys - why do you produce so much threat? I'm not familiar with lock rotations/talents, so please, enlighten me :)

if you could link his armory so we could see his spec and gear it might help, otherwise all we could make is guesses. Guess number one he was playing destro without destructive reach and its 10% threat reduction. guess number 2 if he was pvp specced its possible that he had searing pain in his roation, which in pve is a huuuuuuge nono. thats about the only things i can think of without seeing his spec gear and rotation.

I forgot his name, though he was desto, for sure. The Searing Pain thing would explain a lot...
And yet, I've noticed that desto locks (which seems to be the most popular spec for PvE, according to my experiences) produce more threat than other classes. Is it because of the 10% threat reduction, while most classes either get 30%, or have threat wipes, or both? Or some tank-helping skills like Misdirection and Tricks of the Trade?

in a PVE destro spec, i can generally put out more threat than the majority of tanks that I run with
it's a combination of a few things - sub-par threat reduction (either 5% or 10% depending on whether he is 3/13/55 or 0/13/58) combined the fact that the lock is doing some passive healing (fel armor/fel synergy ticks)
although soul shatter was improved by lowering the CD to 3 minutes, it'll take a while before everyone adjusts their playstyle to that fact
in my guild, we've gotten to the point where we largely avoid problems with it by
having rogues/hunters use tricks/misdirect several times early in the fight
having a pally ready to toss salv on locks about a minute or so into the fight
I think that as we move further along it'll be a problem for other classes as well, just warlocks (and fire mages to some extent) were the first classes to start really pushing tanks on the amount of threat they can output

WTB warriors shouting again
"NO ONE ATTACK BEFORE 5 SUNDERS!" :)
Yes, probably something similar will happen in Icecrown gear, as DPS scales better that threat.

I use Omen in conjunction with the new built in threat meter in the game. When my percentage gets to about 80% on any of my DPS chars I use any talent I have to lower threat or I just stop casting for a momment until my threat percentage is lower.
omen works well
wait till you get to ~110% to use soul shatter

If he is doing 4k dps, it is very unlikely that he is spamming searing pain.

we also dont have a treat wipe skill. Mages and hunter can go from no1 to zero threat. If my tank is not so good I have to w8 before i start real dps a few seconds.
For emalon witch I usually pug I must Curse of doom witch is practicly zero threat go to the other side of room withought doing any dmg and the start my rotation.

True, Warlocks (like me) sometimes get aggro, IF I AM WITH A BAD TANK! No offence but i think you might lack some tanking skills. Warlocks is always higher than all others except tank, but never supposed to pull threat away from tank. But Omen is so utterly flawed. Use the in-game threat meter as it is the only one working properly. Once when i was in HoL HC and on Loken I took aggro on boss when he cast lightning nova, i got hit by like 14 k of it and then one-shotted with a 8 k blow. Since this tank was using Omen he had no clue that i got aggro and believed somehow that i was killed by the lightning nova, if you should be a good tank, start using the in-game threat meter, cause it is perfect.
