this is exactly what i was attempting in the FAQ.
the problem is, though, that many people come here asking for the answer to a specific question but the answer is often more complicated than can be given in a quick response.
for example, "what's the hit cap?"
the answer to this question isn't as simple as it used to be back in tBC. we can't just say "it's 202" any more. the way for the questioner to find the answer is for them to understand the wider issues. using this example it requires them to understand the different factors which effect hit like talents, buffs and gear choices.
in this case the question "does meta multiply demon armour?" may be answered with "no" but without the OP actually going away with some understanding of the situation there hasn't been any benefit to the question being asked.
this is why we link to stickies.

"what's the hit cap", yes, is a very complex question as it involves quite a number of factors. melee dual-wield hit cap? melee 2h hit cap? melee titan's grip hit cap? spell hit cap? what class talents have you selected? do you have a dranei in your group? etc.
but whether the effects of one talent point take into account the effects of a buff, that is a very simple yes-or-no question. the answer of which i still contend is not on that very long, detailed sticky. or if it is, i still have yet to find it, and no one has pointed me to where in that long sticky it is. merely asserting "it's in there, go find it" isn't helpful.
i fail to see how asking a straightforward question, when i am unable to locate the answer myself, warrants such negative responses? if someone asking a question on a forum bothers you so much, why bother reading the questions in the first place? why waste your time writing an unhelpful response?
rant over.

slohth, my above comment was in direct response to lokibrth's question of why we provide a wall of text when a yes/no question is asked.
in this case, i had a look through blightman's tanking sticky (which is great (how could it not be it was written by blighty ^^) but should NOT be a sticky) and the answer is not immediately apparent. it's certainly not explicitly stated though may be found if you dig through some of the maths on armour and damage reduction.
essentially, you've kinda right that if we're going to get upset for people for not reading the stickies then we need to be very sure that the answers are there. so apologies for the bad forum experience.
still, question answered now. maybe time to put this one to rest.
