Test it out on a training dummy for an extended period of time. You'll see that the Unholy Blight will work out to 20% of the overall Death Coil damage.
In heroics where you're working on trash pulls, things might not have time to actually make use of the full 10 second debuff.

UB deals 20% (28% if glyphed) of DC over 10 seconds
if refreshed within that 10 seconds it deals 20/28% of the new DC plus any damage from the last UB that didn't tick over a new 10 seconds
it's like filling a bucket (dot) with water (dot's damage) continuously only the bucket has a leak (damage done each tick)
the faster you pour water into the bucket the faster it overflows thus increasing the dot's damage but as soon as you let up the leak will empty the bucket thus reducing the built up damage from reapplying the dot
yes, i'm about to talk in circles but it helps to explain it thoroughly
warrior's deep wounds, mage's ignite, and Val'anyr's shield all work in the same manner
x=multiplier (in this case 20/28%)
y=1st application
z=remainder of y yet to be dealt/absorbed at time of reapplication
lemons=final outcome
damage done/absorbed = damage dealt/healed * x = y
damage done/absorbed = (damage dealt/healed * x) + z = lemons
say you get a 5k DC with the glyph
5000 * 0.28 = 1400 UB over 10 seconds
say it ticks evenly every 1 second and you reapply it after 4 seconds with a second 5k DC
1400 / 10 = 140 damage every 1 second
140 * 4 = 560 damage dealt over those 4 seconds leaving 940 damage undone
so
(5000 * 0.28) + 940 = 2340 UB to be dealt over a new 10 seconds
time to wrap it up, cicles make me dizzy
initial application
of any of the above mentioned abilities (unholy blight, deep wounds, ignite, val'anyr proc)
damage done/healed * modifier = damage to be dealt/absorbed
refreshing
of the above mentioned abilities (unholy blight, deep wounds, ignite, val'anyr proc)
(damage done/healed * modifier) + damage yet to be dealt/absorbed = damage to be dealt/absorbed

I'm pretty certain it still works out to a significant damage boost over almost anything else I can think of that you'd do with 1 point, everyone's just screaming OMGITSUX because it's not the WTFFACEPWN ability it used to be. It's a constant stream of damage that requires almost no maintenance beyond your standard DPS rotation. Over a long fight, it racks up some pretty nice numbers. Now the numbers will be somewhat less nice individually, but I think it'll kinda even out with the (seemingly) significant buff to Scourge Strike.
