Trinket question

First off, my armory.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Uldaman&n=Arkendar
Now, made the paladin a couple of weeks ago, have yet to get Wrath (Running the 10 day trial atm).
While stuck at 70, I figure I can try to get his gear/professions to be up a little bit. No main/alts on this account to farm cash, so everything is done at a rather slow pace.
Anyway, I picked up engineering because I like some of the 'toys' you get with it. Noticed the trinkets yesterday, made a
Sonic Booster
Currently at 516 defense (Picked up the 13 DR shoulder enchant from Scryers, hasn't updated on armory yet), so I'm assuming I could drop the defense trinket without being in too much trouble.
Easiest trinkets I have available seem to be the engineering ones, and they aren't half bad, imo.
Which creates the question I have. Make a second
Sonic Booster
, gain 81 stamina. Or make a
Noise Machine
and get the 1100 damage absorbed/minute.
Seeing as I generally like to pull in the AE fashion (Why I chose to level prot, though I don't grind that often, I just take any chance to pull a large amount), not sure which would help more. I'm leaning towards the flat stamina, but figured I'd ask before I waste the mats to make another one.
Sidenote: Please ignore the odd enchants. Leveling enchanting makes them look odd. At least it isn't spirit anymore!
Thanks for any help!

Ignore the defense "cap" until 80, then get it up to 535 for heroics and 540 for raids.

It all comes down to what you want to do in the long run. By far the best professions you can have to be a raid MT is Blacksmithing and Jewel-crafting. Looking at your post i had a good laugh, because as i was leveling up to 80 my professions were Mining and Engineering. You get a kick as purple helmet early in the game, and those blue trinkets are pretty sweet! But you need to ask yourself.....how far to I want to take my character. If your thinking being a tank almost 80% of your game play then you need to drop Engineering and pick up Jewel-crafting.
I know its expensive, but it pays for itself in JC tips in the long run, and most of the mats you'll be able to get yourself by dropping enchanting and leveling up your mining and JC together. There are many guilds online and on forums on how to do this and what zones to go to.
I didn't replace my
Figurine - Monarch Crab
until my
Juggernaut's Vitality
dropped form TOC. I used that little tanking trinket for almost my entire tanking play time. I still even keep it in my bags because i feel like something is missing if i don't see the little yellow bugger.

3-4k gold for Figurine - Monarch Crab isnt the best deal, Hat. Unless your economy is full of downs, youre going to get jacked unless you mine for a month straight to get everything you need. While the crap is great, you can replace it much sooner than ToC10. The utility of Engineering far outweighs JC. Not to mention Engineering gives you the best EH enchant in the game.
When the dragons stopped being prismatic, JC was dead to me.

Not planning on doing raids or anything of that manner. Plan to group, maybe do heroics, but nothing further. Never been big on raiding in any of the games I play.
And as far as the JC/BS thing, I did that once (My old DK on a different account) and never found it to be entertaining enough. Sure, I could make some nice stuff, but I'd rather have a bit of fun.
As far as a longterm goal, I suppose you could just list me under 'testing myself'. That was the main goal I had on my DK. Playing purely to see "Can I solo that?". Which is somewhat of the reason I chose enchanting to go with engineering. I spend *alot* of time in old dungeons once I finish leveling, and I never had any bagspace on my DK. So, being able to disenchant will be nice. And the mailbox will make things even easier.
Plan to eventually (when I have the money) faction/account change my DK onto my new account (Moving from a shared family account to having my own). So I'll have access to a BS/JC, just won't have the actual benefits from having them on the paladin.
Went ahead and equipped the Noise Machine for now as I had made one for a skillup earlier anyway. Can always make another Booster if that turns out to be better.
Thanks for replies

3-4K if you buy everything from the AH and try to level in 1 day. But if you level JC at the same time you level mining it costs substantially less. I would say that if you went simple on the ore gained from leveling from 1-450 mining then you could level JC from 1-400 with just 1K gold input. But if you spent a little more time mining the mats you need then you wouldn't even need to spend 1K.
As far a trinkets go....The black heart was nice, but only for some fights...and I would have replaced the crab with that stam/parry trinket from yogg 10 if it ever dropped. but there is no denying that for a lvl 75 blue trinket the crab its very very OP.
3 dragons eyes for stam is 153 stam. normal gems would be 90 stam. So JC gives you a bonus of 63 stam.
Reticulated Armor Webbing
which is the Engineering thing i believe you are talking about is nice....but just as comparable as +63 stam. As for "The utility of Engineering far outweighs JC." That statement only applies to what you think is useful. Me dropping a mail box infront of anub isn't going to make him hit me any less. This is why I asked Laraden where he wants to take his character.

This is exactly the type of answer I was looking for. If you want to enjoy your profession and do a multitude of things with it. Go engineering. Like I said before, I was an enginner during a part of my tanking days, and the hand mounted pocket rocket with a 50 yard range was just too much fun not to use.
Enjoy yourself man. And if your looking to make a bit of profit....
Plans: Shatter Rounds
or
Plans: Iceblade Arrow
seem like a good idea to me :-)
Cheers,
Hat
