Hi everybody, thanks for reading. I have been running instanes alot lately and have had a bad run with my traps. I am bm/mm spec., what i need to know is why my traps keep getting broke in the slave pens. If I serpent sting them before they get to the trap will that cause it to break.

Why would yo do that...wouldn't you want to aim shot or arcane shot for the damage?

Plovitz has the right idea here, pulling with auto shot does not create enough hate. If it is a long pull, by the time it reaches the trap it could be pulled away be the healer. And when it breaks for the second trap in the chain, it has a great chance to be pulled away from your control.
I also suggest a macro that turns off your auto shot when pulling. Once you fire a distracting shot, it jumps to auto shot, and if you don't turn it off manually, or switch targets, you can break your own trap. A simple macro with stop cast has worked well for me so far.
Thanks for the advice all of you ...since this post i have alot better luck with my traps and also read some threads on dbl trapping and such ...I tried to get good aggro from the beasts and use less mana ...so I set my traps early and pull knowing that I will pull him again when it used up.

heres what i do... I set up 2 macros... if you know how to use focus set your cc target as your focus target (do this by targeting it then type /focus... i put this on a macro button to speed up the process) then target your main target (your dps target) and use this macro when the tank has pulled:
/cast Distracting Shot
this will fire distracting shot at your focus target (your CC target) without ever changing your main target (your DPS target). This assures that you never accidentally break a trap by hitting it or firing one too many shots.
so you have 2 buttons (2 macros):
/focus
&
/cast Distracting Shot
you can also use these in raids to Misdirect the tank... just set your tank as the Focus and have a macro that reads:
/cast Misdirection
Good luck!
