There's always newer players and more casual guilds that you can get going with. Or if you have some old friends who've progressed quite far already, there's a chance they could help you with gearing up a bit. With 25 players in a raid, it isn't a horrible problem if one or two are a bit undergeared (obviously you can't hope of doing BT in greens, but you get the point). You could also possibly join them when they're doing Kara/5-mans with their alts.
Don't worry, there are thousands of other people you can play with. You'll be sure to find some at your own level.

New guilds start in Karazhan all the time - being a Paladin who hasn't dabbled much with Protection and tanking due to general prejudice against anything other than Holy spec I'm not -quite- sure on gear requirements - although I suspect that all the good blues you can get from instances or crafting, and maybe a little gear from Heroics, should be enough for at least the earlier stages of Karazhan. Aim for the magic 490 defense first, so you can't be critted.
