that's all very silly.
best advice: use the very best techniques available at any given level.
at low levels wands are good. use them.
at high levels wands are bad. don't use them.
wands are not a bad habit, they're an extra, resource free damage source. as long as that source is high and the usefulness is high, they're great. as soon as the damage tails off and the need for them is also diminished, they're poor.
dirt bike's without seats... life's like a box of chocolates... blah blah.

if you see a level 80 warlock with 'shoot' on their hot bar then, by all means, feel free to /point and /laugh but low level players can get a lot of use out of a wand and shouldn't be given bad advice like that.
I put it on my hotbar for general vezax -_-

@asakawa: How many warlocks have you seen in Outland and Northrend sending in their Felguard and using either wand or shadowbolt spam from there?
none.
you talk about learning to use spells. what are the spells you would use instead of a wand? shadow bolt? drain life maybe?
how is casting DL every 5 seconds any more taxing? or even shadow bolt spam?
if you have a good wand that does the same damage as the spells you would cast then why spend the mana when you don't have the tools at your disposal to manage health and mana effectively. they come later.
look, i see what you're saying but it's just silly. wands aren't taboo no matter how much you try to suggest they are. they're useful free damage at low levels and a stat stick later. that's all.
