However given the average education of the average WoW player, such nomenclature would not be understood (or would generate arguments such as what this thread has). Therefore people use the more descriptive format of 1g1s1c rather than saying "the price is 1.01.01"
Well, since in this example our unit is g, the second decimal is redundant. 1.01.01g would be the same as 1.0101g. The only time a second decimal place would be necessary is if you we're trying to use say like base-20 using base-10 numerals.
Don't go flaunting your above-average education around too hard, you might hurt yourself.
