I say:
The glass is considered half empty ONLY when you are pouring whatever was in it, out.
The glass is considered half full ONLY when you are pouring something into the glass =D
Please post if you have anything better.

The glass is twice the size it's supposed to be.
Do I win?

If the content is good for you, half-empty.
If content is bad for you, half-full.

Agree with the above post. Something is empty only if there is the complete absence of matter. But then even the vacuum of space is apparently rich in this.

Well...I can still find my socks on my bedroom floor with the lights off and the blinds shut when I'm getting up for work at 4am...

Taking into consideration the rate of pour either; a. Out of the Glass or b. into the glass, I can only surmise the glass is half occupied for a brief moment during the time when said liquid is being transferred. After which point the balance is completely thrown off until such time when you empty the glass and begin again.
