because often the boss will target the person he does a random ability on, such as slag pot or to see his castbar for that other thing he does that spell locks you. I like to cast WG on myself with Grid+Clique, but ignis is not in my range, so I get the error. So basically... you dont want to take advantage of a feature thats already built into an addon that you already have, such as, i dont know the custom debuff filter thats built into grid already? Because you know grid will show you exactly whos in the pot, in stone grips, whos in iron roots, whos getting napalm shelled, all that.
And if youre raiding you have DBM to announce stuff like the lock out abilities you have to avoid. I dont see the need for a work around really =/
As a tree theres really no reason to have anyone targetted, especially if youre using Grid + Clique. Just keep yourself targetted and take advantage of the tools you already use... just use them to their full potential ;)

That should do the trick.

i guess im not understanding why its hard to keep yourself targetted. Ive read threads and threads about this supposedly annoying 'bug' asking for a work around. So heres a work around:
keep yourself targetted

Well reaper of course it's not "hard" to keep yourself targeted, but on the other hand, it's not really useful either -.-
Even when I am healing I like to have the boss as my target, I don't need to target myself/others due to grid + clique, and it can be useful to see the health of the boss, for example when it will change phases, if he is going into soft enrage so I should pop cooldowns to heal a bit more etc.
The only thing I gain be having myself targeted is having my player frame duplicated, not really as helpful, so it's only natural trying to find a smarter solution.

I'm using this macro with Grid+Clique:
/cleartarget
/cast Wild Growth(Rank 4)
/targetlasttarget
Post by
HighFive
/cleartarget
/cast Wild Growth(Rank 4)
/targetlasttarget
^does the exact same thing.
Well, except for targeting your previous target when you didn't have one originally, but that's probably something you didn't want in the first place.

are you using dbm? bigwigs? dxe boss mods? You should be if youre raiding and they do the same thing. This 'bug' is nothing but a
minor
annoyance and something to complain about and in no way changes your ability to heal.

Who cares. Let them play the way they want. If they want a macro to cast WG on their self so they can target the boss, then give them one or let someone else. Whether it's needed or not.

Howdy. I was wondering if you could give me a quick fix for the old wild growth bug
...
because often the boss will target the person he does a random ability on, such as slag pot or to see his castbar for that other thing he does that spell locks you
Because you know grid will show you exactly whos in the pot, in stone grips, whos in iron roots, whos getting napalm shelled, all that.

I'm happy with the mods I have, I'm just looking for a workaround for this bug.
So heres a work around:
keep yourself targetted
he asked for a 'quick fix' and a 'work around' hes been given at least 3

Yes I am using one of these add ons, which do now show the bosses hp, and what I mentioned can depend on that + I don't like to "waste" my target by have myself targeted, that doesn't do anything useful
at all
.
So wouldn't it be smarter to just write a macro like the the on HighFive showed, and while using that being able to target whatever you want to?

Needing to see the bosses HP would be necessary as a MT healer, as a paladin, such as yourself, seeing cast bars is important. As a druid, its never necessary to see a cast coming, you have ZERO mitigation abilities that would need to be cast during an ability. DBM does show boss health frames, as well as DXE boss mods, as a percentage. Phase changes come at certain percentages, thus making DBM more than effective.
Either way, what I suggested is more than effective. Either way, the OP is looking for a way around the bug, whether he likes the solution or not is not the issue. As I said its an annoyance, albeit a minor one, with plenty of ways around it.
From my personal experience the macros still find ways to not work just right. Most effective =/= 100% effective. Keeping yourself targetted is 100% effective.
