Starting
Storm of Swords
tomorrow. Why was it split in two? Ugh.
It wasn't?
AFFC and ADoD were split in half because, together, they were something like 1900 pages.
I've got part 1: Steel and Snow and part 2: Blood and Gold, or something. It makes no sense, and part 1 is a diddy book, smaller than all the rest (in height). :(

Yeah, although in the UK, the paperback edition was originally published in two volumes. :P
To clarify a little more: A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons are concurrent novels in the series, where certain markets have chosen to split the publication of A Storm of Swords for mass market paperback.

Seriously? I was unaware of that.
I got mine in hardcover, one novel.

As near as I can tell (from Wikipedia), it was only the UK and French paperbacks.

This is an old book, but does anyone remember
The Giver
?

Yeah. It was an interesting book, but I didn't really care for it.

Finished
The Crippled God
- the concluding novel in Steven Erikson's
Malazan Book of the Fallen
, and man... epicness overload, seriously. If you haven't read his books already, do.

Anybody remember Animorphs? I loved those books as a kid, I found one in my closet the other day and was thinking of cracking it open... I still havnt been able to bring myself to read A Dance With Dragons after the massive pile of %^&* that AFFC turned out to be...
Also its funny to hear people talking about The Giver, a girl at work has been talking about it for like a week, I read it in middle school but havnt thought much about it since. I heard they made a sequal.

I
loathed
it -.-
Too much Brienne and the Lannister twins, with a few splashes of Sam and Arya. Briennes chapters, while I love her character, fealt particularly boring. Maybe it was just having her wander around looking for Sansa when you know damn well she isnt going to find her...
Although it may have just been the pent up rage from having the red wedding spoiled for me by my cousin while I was half way through ASOS. Frankly Im getting a bit soured on the whole ASOIAF series, Ive been rereading The Hobbit, and to continue the Tolkieny goodness I think Im going to reread LOTR after and some of the other tales of Middle Earth, then
and only then
will I sit down and start reading ADWD...

Edit: Seriously though, her books were not of the young teen demographic they were marketed for heh; not with the nauseating morph descriptions, the constant and violent death(usually as the result of Visser 3 going into some monster form and eating people), the idea of 6 kids who go up against the evil alien forces...and when the first book has one of them changed forever well....
Remnants? Also suppose to be a young teen series.....yeah.... Just read the part where a part of the Ship Called Mother is modeled after Basch paintings, complete with demons added in. Or the description of the people who did not survive the trip to the ship; cheesed by micrometeorites, eaten alive by worms, dead because the cryo system fails. And of course, later, with the Baby(the god damn thing's eyes melt!), the mega mutants(one dude can create as much of himself as he wants, and at one point has 5 brains bursting out of the back of his head), and all the other fun stuff in that series.
Everworld...just....Everworld; Hel and her realm alone is enough to send you scrambling for the brain wash, and once the God Eater shows up....yeah.

It features most of the characters I don't really like quite prominently, but presumably my favourites will be present in
A Dance With Dragons
to compensate. I'm reading
A Feast For Crows
at the moment, so... :P

Should, and get her other two series; you'll finish them off quickly, but they are worth the read....now, if she could just stop ending them abruptly as she does lol.

ADWD is glorious. You get Tyrion every other chapter, along with Jon.

Like I said my opinion of Martin took a hige dip after AFFC... Maybe ADWD will breath new life into it though, it does have more of my favorite characters. Although my one worry is that a few people have told me the story dosnt really go anywhere. I do love reading the chapters with Danny and Tyrion though.

It does kind of lag until the last bit, then a lot happens all at once.

Finished the Hobbit. I swear Bilbo Baggins is the best *!@#ing character Tokien ever made. He had the biggest heart of anybody in the series, he took pity on Gollum who wanted to kill him and gave up 1/14 of the greatest treasure in the world just to have peace. He also had a stronger will than anybody els, he was the one person who actualy let go of the ring and walked away after he had it for years, even Frodo tried to keep it in the end. As much as I loved Lord of the Rings, I wish we had 100 more books of Bilbos adventures. The Hobbit was the greatest adventure story ever told.

Ugh... after
ADWD
I'm going to have to wait until I get paid for more books. :( Grim. I don't even know what books I want to get, which is even grimmer.
