(( Oh, what horrors await? ))
- Morec let Umbragos encircle Utgarde Keep before urging him to a landing. Several vrykul were on the ground, but he didn't try to avoid them. He grinned sadistically as Umbragos crushed two under his mighty forpaws as he landed, and when he snapped another in two when his tail lashed out and crushed the vrykul against the wall of the keep. He didn't care if they lived or died. Either way they would serve his king.
- Morec dismounted and ordered Umrbagos to say put as he walked into Utgarde.
- The vrykul were massive beings that respected power and little else. Morec found them disgusting, like he did all who lived. However, they were excedingly talented craftsmen and weaponsmiths, and Morec was sure that they'd completed his new sword to his expectations.
- The half-giant men saluted him as he passed. They respected power, yes, and he had plenty of that.
- It wasn't long before he reached the main forge room. "Weaponsmith!"
- "Over here, my lord," the weaponsmith replied and Morec walked to the other end of the room. The weaponsmith was, without doubt, one of the most massive vrykul Morec had ever seen. It towered a good five feet above him - the death knight himself standing at a good 6'3''. However the vrkul's age was apparent from the graying-white hair on his head.
- "Well?" Morec asked, "is it finished?"
- "Nearly," the vrykul replied. "I only need to finish cooling the blade, after that the details won't take me long. Here, have a look." Gripping the glowing hot sword with a pair of iron tongs, he held it out for Morec's inspection.
- The blade met every single one of his expectations. The length, width, and even sharpness of the blade were all perfect. The brute had been especially careful, it seemed.
- "Give it to me," Morec said, removing his left gauntlet.
- The weaponsmith blinked in surprise. "My lord, the blade is still heated. Touching it would sear the flesh black and-."
- "Give it to me," Morec repeated, "if you value your
life
." Fear breifly flashed in the old vrykul's face, and he held the sword out to Morec.
- The Scourgelord gripped the searing hilt with his left hand. It burned his dead flesh, but Morec ignored the pain. He rolled the hot metal around in his palm and then handed it back to the vrykul - who gripped it with the tongs.
- Morec gazed at his left palm, and scowled. The flesh was charred black, but the glowing insignia of the Silver Hand still shined.
- He'd been a fool to think that such a simple action would remove the holy
taint
. It made no difference, though, he had an army to rally.
- "Finish it," he ordered the vrykul weaponsmith. "
Now
!"
- Morec spent the next few hours standing and waiting. The vrykul cooled, reheated and rehammered the blade until it was ready for the final step. The weapon smith wrapped the hilt in a thick artic fur, then took a strange, red gem and placed it into the hilt.
- "What is that?" Morec asked.
- "A crystal that I found," the vrykul replied. "Our spellcasters say that it holds great power. I thought it was fitting that you should have it, Scourgelord." He inlayed it into the sword and then handed it to Morec. The blade was perfect, except for one thing: it lacked runes.
- Morec held his hand over the blade, his power slowly carving in the runes that gave the sword power.
Now
it was perfect, all it required was a test.
- And here was a
voulunteer
.
- Before the vrykul could react, Morec brought the sword down, slicing open the weaponsmith's chest and stomach, and letting his blood spill out onto the floor. The body fell to the ground and Morec grinned. The weapon was everything he had hoped for.
- "A blade of you stature deserves a fitting appelation," Morec said. "I hereby name you:
Bloodfester
!"
- He looked down at it, and that was when he noticed something strange. The blood on the runeblade was creeping up it, towards the gem. When the blood reached the stone, it disappeared into it, the gem gaining a deeper hue of red as it did. He looked at the blood on the floor and it, too, was trying to reach his sword.
- He touched the tip of the runeblade to the ground, and the blood was pulled up it and into the gem. Morec also noticed something else; the more blood the sword absorbed the stronger he felt. And not just physically either, it felt as if his magical capabilities were increased as well.
-
An interesting trick
, Morec thought. He'd look into it later, but, for now, he needed to return to Icecrown.
- He walked out of the keep, then realized something: he still had his old sword. He took it out of its sheath and looked at it. After he had been ressurected as a death knight he had been unable to grasp the holy-runed blade without its energies searing him. Eventually, though, he had been able to re-rune the weapon, replacing the holy runes with dark ones.
- However, it was a weak blade. A reminder of his past and his own weaknesses. He no longer needed it.
- He threw it into the waters of Daggercap Bay below.
- Morec put Bloodfester in the now empty sheath and mounted Umbragos. The frost wyrm flew into the air and back towards Icecrown.

For those of you wondering: yes, this was more or less a transition page of sorts.

holy
taint
/compliment.
It is a rarity to see a DK who hates the Light, so well done for portraying the bitterness he holds. ;)

Writer's Commentary:
- Just like Umbragos, Bloodfester was taken from this for the RPs I've been in long before I posted this. The blades powers have remained the same, and the reason is very simple: what gem absorbs blood?
- This page was mostly intende to continue to introduce new readers to Scourgelord Morec's personality. As you can see, its very different from normal Morec's in Light and Death. Let the living beware!
- With the Scourgelord on his way back to Icecrown, the fate of Nilon remains unknown? Page 4 corrects that, as well as introduces and new character...
EDIT: 5k posts! Woot!

Well, when you think about it, almost all Scourge have Old God poweres through saronite. It only seemed fitting.
So when is the Slayer appearing in Frozen North heh?
You'll see.

It's time for a preview of things to come:
- "Foolish
mortals
!" Morec shouted, "you sealed your fates by coming here. I am Scourgelord William Morec,
right hand
of the
Lich King
! His will demands that your lives are to be ended. However, I am willing to give you a chance to repent.
- "Lay down your arms and I will grant you the power, the blessing, of undeath. You will no longer have to fear for your lives, for you will be
eternal
. You will be
undying
. Surely such a gift is worth the price?"
