i disagree with 2 things here.
firstly if we assume that it will work, blindly accepting anything EJ says:
...which improves your dps ever so slightly.
i disagree with that yeah.
-do you think a single DoT tick is worth even discussing a whole different rotation?
-do you think a single DoT tick will make ANY difference to DPS (or total damage done) by the end of that patchwerk fight?
-do you think it's a good idea to advise people to get close to bosses?
-do you think it's a good idea to get inside the 110% threat margin area?
-do you think you'd be able to get haunt to land before corruption ticks consistently enough to be worth any effort?
secondly, i disagree that it will work as listed above.
as i said earlier in the thread. corruption triggers a 1.5 second GCD and haunt has a 1.5 second cast time. this means that, with zero haste, corruption will ALWAYS tick before haunt lands no matter how close you get. you would need significant amounts of haste to give your haunt ANY time to fly and even when you're standing right on top of the boss there is a delay for flight time.
this is a bad idea in every way and just because it was posted on EJ does not change that. it's not worth the trouble or the added danger to try and get ONE extra tick in an entire boss fight. do yourself a favour and drop this awful notion.

lol, fair enough mate. you said:
Do you still disagree asakawa! :)
so i had to respond, since i did/do ^_^
EJ is a fantastic resource and the info there is extensively 'peer reviewed' but that doesn't mean that a quote from EJ proves a point which is so often how it is used on fora like this. when someone runs out of valid points to back up their idea they resort to EJ for what they think is irrefutable evidence of their correctness.
i absolutely didn't mean to make you sound like an idiot. you've said you don't have very good english but i think it's excellent and you clearly know what you're talking about. i strongly disagree with the idea being discussed but that doesn't mean my respect for you is in any way diminished.

Should I do that even when it's only like, say 3 targets?
You might aswell if you think there's enough time for the spell to do enough damage for the AoE effect (1518 damage) which there probably is. Cast the rest of your spells aswell (especially haunt) and its just some extra damage (which is usually a good thing).
Just don't cast Rain Of Fire because your firespells arn't going to be very powerful seeing as you are affliction.

yup.
2 = DoT both
3 = RoF
4+ = SoC

I'd just RoF for 3, it's hard to do the maths without knowing the make-up of your party, but DoTing at all will probably be a DPS decrease.
When using SoC, just spam it on the kill target, you'll get better DPS than trying to SoC all the mobs.

If you're deep enough in Affliction to have Unstable Affliction, you will likely have Malediction which gives your priority on CoE (13% bonus instead of 10%). If course, CoA pumps your numbers, but Malediction is better for the raid...
