Tanking 3.1; SoB takes a hit! (or does it?)

So more information regarding SoB vs. SoV and special abilities in general are accumulating and people are doing the modeling as I type. It seems that there is a
two roll system
in effect, and SoB effectively turns into a
three roll system
.
This basically means that SoB scales differently with exp/hit. So low hit/exp setups will have SoV much further ahead of SoB.
SoV ftw? SoB to make a comeback?
Stay tuned!
Detailed info:
http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20823&start=405
Edit
:
(super tl;dr from above link)
Our love fest with SoV will continue through much of Ulduar, yet, as we start to gear up SoB has a clear option to surpass SoV in output due to the amount of tanking exp/hit gear that drops there.Avoidance and mitigation issues
irrelevent.
Edit#2:
SoB will start out lower than expected against SoV, but will scale with exp and hit faster/better than expected as well.
.
.
.
.
For those that are math saavy and want to know where the crossover will begin looking at your exp/hit have a gander at the following:
So
Delta = 275 - 0.76*hit_rating - 1.65*expertise_rating_below_82 - 2.38*expertise_rating_above_82
If Delta > 0, SoV > SoB. Otherwise, SoB > SoV.
Just checking some easy numbers, let's put in 60 hit rating and 120 expertise:
Delta=275 - 0.76*60 - 1.65*82 - 2.38*(120-82) = 3.66, which is pretty close to 0, and within the error bounds of all the rounding I've been doing here.
Let's instead try 150 hit rating, and 100 expertise:
Delta=275 - 0.76*150 - 1.65*82 - 2.38*(100-82) = -17.14, which is <0, indicating that SoB would do more DPS here. It's clear from this result that the crossover point on the expertise graph has moved down to below 100 expertise rating as a result of the added hit rating.
If we want to solve for the crossover, we can set Delta=0. Since we had to split expertise rating, we need to represent it as two equations. First, pretend that the expertise rating is less than or equal to 82, so that expertise_rating_above_82=0. Solving the equation then gives:
expertise_rating_below_82 = 166.67 - 0.46*hit_rating, (up to a maximum of 82 expertise rating)
Similarly, setting expertise_rating_below_82 = 82, and solving for expertise_rating_above_82 gives:
expertise_rating_above_82 = 58.70 - 0.32*hit_rating
So for a given hit rating, the expertise crossover is:
expertise_rating = min() + max()

We already knew low hit/exp setups were favoring SoV, now we have a better idea how much. I don't see where you somehow discovered that when we were already talking about it.
The majority of what you were saying was;
I have to drop avoidance to stack hit/exp
I might commit suicide.
Unless im missing some vital post of yours.
The two counterpoints were
No. This is a database site go look at the gear avalible in Ulduar/3.1.
There are over two dozen peices added in 3.1 alone, with def on them and either hit, exp, or both.
Its hard for you to get away with statements like "have to drop avoidance to stack hit/exp" on a database site.
You would have to be very low on health and get a very large crit off a judgement, witch if is ever a issue (its not) you can just use Exo substitution as your 969 rotation.
Basically what you were doing is guessing, and providing nothing to back it up. I'm at least citing information
so we can know instead of guess.

My view: Blizzard wants SoV tanking and SoB DPS.
They'll fine tune it to that eventually.

SoR is better for tanking currently, SoV isnt even that good, i gain a 1k TPS increase by using SoR, not sure why SoV is the tanking seal of choice....
You'd be sure why if you read the link. Stop trolling, nerd.
You gain TPS in that reguard becuse youre doing a horrible horrible rotation. Faceroll is
NOT
a rotation how we mean rotation.

I mean a tank's mean priority would be maximum survival,
A tanks main priority, imho, is not letting the boss eat the raid; everything else he does is a means to that end.

Hopefully. I dont want to be sitting around in a couple montsh with exp/hit gear out the eyes knowing that if I puzzle them together I could remain with roughly the same hp/mitigation/avoidance but pump out 5% more hate if I switch to SoB.
Your post count broke wowhead.

And regarding SoB... Unless they take off the sacrifice then it prolly wont be viable due to the addition damage taken, having any extra damage taken other then what the mobs doing to you use unneccesary and is much more of a strain on the healer, also it could cause close calls to become wipes, such as the *1% health then crit Shield of righteousness while libram of obstruction is on* ya.... woops sorry guys got a crit with my shield and died :] SoR is clearly the best tanking seal.
If you do not know what you are talking about, don't post. Or stop trolling. Either way you are bound to confuse newer players.
SoV/SoCorr > SoR

Could be taking about the damage increase to SoR on the PTR.

Unless it was SoR itself was boosted by 2x+ recently and the glyph is 30% again =O all the modeling done on the linked page is PTR/3.1 related. But then that might account for a couple dozen TPS, not 1000.
I wish they would buff it though. I MUCH rather be discussing how SoR looks liek a intresting alternative than SoB. Right now.. wtf is SoR good for? Its like the red-headed step child seal.

With regards to SoB tanking...a raid is made up of 25ppl, imo dps should contribute their share of potentials, such as watching meters, aggro transfer in the begining and yea. The whole idea of SoB tanking seems like the tank babysitting "leet" dps that cant and not willing to control threat.
Possibly.
I'm just glad its not as good with a 2roll system.
