When I was just starting out leveling and still had a lot of T5 stuff I was only at 800-900. Once you get WotLK stuff, which has a lot more Strength than the old gear, you'll find your damage will go up. In avoidance type gear you'll normally hit 1400-1500 in normal situations with a DW build. With proper gearing you can get up to 2000-2200.
