Switch between UI setups without configuring every time?

I have my UI set up pretty well atm but I'd like to try some new things and be able to revert to my old setup without having to completely reconfigure it.
If I save my interface and WTF folders for each setup can I just swap them out and have everything returned to the way I left it when I logged out? I can't remember for sure but I think I tried this a couple of years ago and it didn't work.
Are there any addons that facilitate this kind of thing?

I already do pretty much everything you suggested :D
What I want is to be able to take a snapshot, so to speak, of different setups since I'm thinking of doing major changes. Like, completely different addons.
Thanks for the suggestion.

If you were really sneaky, you could write a batch file that would load up, present you with a menu like:
Super Duper Addon Profile Changer
Addon Set:
Set One
Set Two
Set Three
Select Set >
_
And then you could type a number, and the batch file would do something like:
REN
WTF WTF1
REN
WTF2 WTF
wow.exe
So you could just run the batch file every time and it would handle the swapping of WTF folders.
But, of course (1) the renaming wouldn't be that simple and (2) you would not only be swapping in/out the settings for the character you were configuring but everyone.
It might be a reasonable solution for the short term, though, while you're working on it. You could just make sure that if you're logging on to other characters, you always use one of the sets, specifically.
Bleh, then you'd run into merging problems.
Well, you might just be screwed. So many addons don't use the character-specific folders, even now. It makes it stupidly hard to just extract the settings for one character.

Whenever I re-do my UI I just copy my entire WoW folder, delete WTF/Interface/Cache and start clean. That leaves me with two installs with completely different UIs. I generally delete the old config once I have the new one finished, but you could always just keep both.

Those are good ideas. I never thought about just copying the whole wow folder.
Thanks guys.

I'm not nearly that sneaky :P
The suggestion about copping the whole wow folder though, that has worked like a charm. It's nice to be able to go right back to what I'm familiar with in case I want to do something that requires knowing right where everything is, like pvp.

If I needed to do something "important" (Arena, Progression content, etc.) while getting used to a new UI I'd just log out and use the old one.
