Super Training Dummy

I was talking with my guild the other night while the main tank was AFK for a bit in Naxx, and together we came up with a cool idea. What if, in every major city, there was a portal to a blank room with nothing but a mechanical Training Dummy in it. You can talk to it like an NPC, and there would be a list of bosses to choose from. You would bring the raid in there, and choose a boss, and then the room and the training dummy would turn into the boss you chose, and the room would turn into the room the boss would normally be in.
This would obviously be to practice a boss fight with your guild if you're having trouble on it, or fight older bosses just for fun. You wouldn't have to worry about durability or anything, because it would work sort of like a duel, when you hit 1 hp, you just cant attack anything in the room until the fake boss dies or everyone else gets knocked out. You could even choose to fight the boss on their hard mode if you wanted to.
I just wanted to tell you guys this idea and see what you thought. Comments or ideas are appreciated!
P.S. Well, positive comments anyways. =P
EDIT: Since I have two posters relentlessly trying to wreck my idea, and almost zero support otherwise, I give up. Any moderators reading this, please close the thread...

hm...This semi-exists with the Boss-level HP dummies, but I like the rest of the Idea.
Yes, but that doesn't let the healers practice healing, the tanks practice tanking for real, or let you practice things like the Heigan Dance. :)
EDIT: Wow, lolshami said the same thing exactly 1 minute after me.

If this really existed, then what would be my motivation for doing the actual raids?
Kill the real boss in the real instance vs. kill the fake boss in a fake instance that looks and feels exactly like the real boss/instance
Seems like this idea would lower people's motivation to do the actual raids. Isn't the whole point of end content to actually
go and do it
?
Just my 2 cents.
Fake Boss=No Loot. That's the moitvation.
Or just, y'know, practice on the boss itself.
What if you need to practice for the end boss of a raid that takes hours just to get to? This would be much better, no hassle to get there to practice, and no worry about repair bills for plate wearers. Plus, if you were bored, you could fight old bosses or try to solo something for the heck of it.

As long as no loot drops or anything, that'd definitely be cool.
e/ Lol, LordHiccup just said the loot thing, so yeah. Pretty awesome.

But you're gonna have to down the rest of the instance to get to the boss anyway, and by doing so earning potential upgrades for the raiders, making it easier.
Also: Old bosses still exist, you can go solo them and get money out of it too.
I don't think you get what I'm trying to say. If your guild always wipes multiple times on a boss on a boss, you can go here and practice it no hassle, no time lost to a billion wipes, no repair bills to pay, no having to clear all the way to that boss again next week, only to wipe and have to pay repair bills.
And I realize old bosses still exist, but those also take time to get to, since many bosses you need to kill other things to get to it, and old raids are pretty long.
Do you really feel the need to shoot down every comment I make in this thread?
Also, pointing out a specific part of your last comment:
But you're gonna have to down the rest of the instance to get to the boss anyway, and by doing so earning potential upgrades for the raiders, making it easier.
This idea is so you can try the boss
without
having to clear the rest of the instance, and then you can do it in one try the next time and get the upgrades much faster.
Gear =/= an easier raid. Take for example, the Heigan Dance. You need to know what to do, or you die. Sarithon, you need to know what to do, or you die.
For the most part, gear doesn't make you better at the game, practice and skill does.

Sorry, I still think it's a stupid idea. There are alot of ppl that QQ about Blizz making WoW too easy. This just takes that one ginormous step further.

I rest my case. So, raiding and bosses are a "hassle"? I thought this was a game.
Again, your idea is stupid, as raids and end bosses are
supposed
to be a challenge. If everything was easymode, as you're proposing, people would get bored real quick, and move onto a game that held their interest.
How would it make it easier? It's the same thing as practicing on the real boss, you you don't need to take any time getting to him.
Yes it is a game, but I have been in may raids where people start to get angry over many wipes and leave. This could help prevent those many wipes. It wouldn't make it any easier, it could just let you prepare your guild for a raid or a specific boss ahead of time so it runs a bit smoother when you do it for real.
Also, is this really Wowhead's community? Everyone seemed so nice and supportive here. I suppose there are a few exceptions to that rule...

I hate training dummies. Since you really only do 1 damage to them, certain reactive abilities like
Necrosis
always do just 1 damage as well.

with the crazy bills that you get in end-game this is an awesome idea. kinda like a holo suite to practice risk free. u can train new guildies in the fight and how it progresses with out the fear of them causing a wipe for the whole group. i think it would make the raids more open to more people, great idea!

You seem to think you're immune to the passage of time on these dummies.
Let's say my guild raids 16 hours a week. We spend 4 hours practicing Yoggy, get him down, and then proceed to clear Ulduar which somehow takes us 12 hours. We get to yogg but have to go, we're out of time.
OR
We spend the first 12 hours downing Ulduar, and spend 4 hours on Yoggy. We get the same amount of practice, infact, it's more useful practice because there's not a large gap between practice and execution.
Hell, it shouldn't take the same amount of time in the second case, as your raiders have slightly better gear, allowing you to get through older bosses and trash more quickly
Many high end guilds raid many nights a week.
You could always practice on, you know,
a night your guild wouldn't normally be raiding,
which would give you plenty of time to raid on another night.
I never said you were immune to the passage of time, like I said, you could practice one night, and raid the next. Simple solution.
You really just seem bent on trying to ruin my idea, don't you?
