Here is my advice-
Just check out the descriptions when you make a character and pick something that sounds good to you. You may get to level 20 and want to try something else, and that might happen a couple more times. The classes are all unique to themselves with different styles and roles but if you really want to get to 80 you'll eventually stick with something. Also wowhead has a ton of info so just looking around the database and the forums will give you a ton of insight into the finer points of the game along with helping you out with any quest you need the help from.
I started with a warrior because I thought it seemed the most heroic and straightforward. On my way to 70 in the 60's I started a warlock, which at the time seemed like the polar opposite, and eventually that became my main. I have a paladin (eh, ok) mage (meh) DK (not interested) and recently started a shaman (kind of promising) but everyone's taste is different. If you stick with it you'll find the right fit for you.
