Look at your talents. The tier 1 talent in the prot tree, divine strength, increases strength by 15%. Meaning a 20 strength gem is really 23 strength which gives 46 attack power. Strength also scales with kings and AP doesn't which means you have 25% extra strength, which makes a 20 strength gem 25 strength, which is 50 attack power. So basically a 20 strength gem is 50 attack power, when a 40 attack power gem is only 40 attack power and never changes. I didn't do the exact math but from the looks of things you could gain maybe 70ish attack power by changing every attack power gem to strength. Every 40 attack power gem you change to 20 strength is 10 extra attack power. I didn't add the AP gain from non epic gems or 2 stat gems though but you could gain quite a bit of AP by changing to strength.

Some people just need a nudge in the right direction. Not everyone starts off knowing everything. The reason I'm the best paladin in the world (next to athene) is because I read a lot of info off of tons of different websites. Then I owned all their guides with my skills.
