Hey.
All right. Probably should explain this. I recently found myself with some time on my hands. So, I opted to write some stories.
Well, that’s it.
That would be funny if that were the only explanation.
Anyway, I’m trying something extremely ambitious here. There are three stories I’ve got going. As of the time of me writing this explanation, they are called Awakening, Redemption, and Sacrifice. I had an idea, and I ran with it. Specifically, this is kind of one big story. It’s just broken up into different pieces.
There’s a linear story here. But there’s more than one side to things. It pretty much goes Awakening, Redemption, Sacrifice. Part I of Awakening, Part I of Redemption, Part I of Sacrifice, Part II of Awakening, etc.
Here’s where the ambition comes in. I’m going to try to see if I can make these all stand alone stories. Meaning that if you wanted to, you could actually just read Awakening I, Awakening II, Awakening III, and so forth. You might miss a new perspective, but you should still get the overall gist of things.
This is hubris at its finest, folks. But why stop there? Let’s make these perspectives radically different. Here’s what we’re looking at.
Awakening is told from an Alliance perspective. King’s honor, friend.
Redemption is told from a Horde perspective. Blood and thunder.
Sacrifice is told when the Alliance and the Horde meet. Or, rather, when you get to hear from both parties. Only by working together shall we succeed.
Look, I said ambitious, and I meant ambitious.
Incidentally, I’m more or less making this up as I go along. Keep that caveat in mind. Because, well…yeah. I mean, I have a decent idea of where this is going (*cough*), but, you know. Seat of my pants. Why, for all we know, it could turn out that the king of the murlocs ends up dual-wielding Frostmourne and Ashbringer.
…
…murlocs will not do that. I promise.
No…
…that would just be…silly, wouldn’t it?
Nope. None of that. No, sir. Why, I’d have to be some kind of literary genius to make that work.
Google docs is hosting this. Bear with me, as I'm not 100% familiar with the coding for this. But, here it is.
Awakening (A)
-
Part I
-
Part II
(9/12/2009)
-
Part III
(10/05/2009)
Redemption (H)
-
Part I
-
Part II
(9/12/2009)
-
Part III
(10/05/2009)
Sacrifice (A/H)
-
Part I
-
Part II
(9/12/2009)
-
Part III
(10/05/2009)
Revelation: In addition, I would strongly - strongly - recommend you reading them in order. Awakening I, Redemption I, Sacrifice I, then Awakening II, Redemption II, Sacrifice II. Otherwise, you might miss a lot. I kind of decided that this is all going to be one big story, and the A/H tags are just to let you know which side things are really focusing on.

Oh. Just to keep things straight, here's a real quick rundown of the characters.
Awakening.
Jortelas – Draenei Vindicator.
Norrell – Human priest
Kaylani – Night elf druid
Durgan – Dwarf hunter
Kazzo – Gnome warlock
Redemption
Rahzok – Orc warrior
Otoparo – Tauren druid
Lonath – Forsaken mage
Tayjan – Troll hunter
Solador – Blood elf rogue
Sacrifice
will probably be a mix of those characters.

I really like this story. Love how you balanced some classes with common ground, such as hunters and druids. :)
Well, I love all three. I really hope you can uphold this sort of quality of work because, three stories is, as you said, very ambitious.
WANTZ MOAR!1!1!11!
But yeh, I genuinely enjoyed reading it, so thanks. :D

Oh...dag.
My bad. I hadn't noticed too many comments, so I didn't think that many people were reading it. So, I kinda put it on the back burner.
I know it's kind of long. The next sections, I don't think, will be that long. Or they might. I don't know. Like I said, I play this by ear.
Soon enough, I s'pose. Or, more definitively, you can expect something probably by this weekend. Sunday, if not Saturday. After that, expect things more or less on a weekly basis.
Suppose I should get started, huh?
Oh, it's just like high school, all over again.

Heh, I know the feeling. I'm still working on the third part for my own tale series.

Hey, all. Been a while. A long while, I know. I was just getting some stuff in my own life taken care of.
But now that I got a handle on that? That means I can actually go back to taking care of this. You know, with actual...actual updates.
The latest is up at the top. Part II for all of this.
Also, comments are welcome. I like knowing that people are actually reading this stuff.
I might go ahead and just create a separate thread for Q&A, just because I'd like to try and keep this organized. But, yeah. Go ahead and read the above. And enjoy.
Again, feedback is always neat. It keeps me motivated.

Alright, I read Awakening... Made me sad. I love the orcs, but those were dark days for the race.
Reading Redemption and it's... confusing at the beginning. I'm trying to imagine the scene in my head as I read, but I just know the characters names and class, if that.
For example...
Tayjan stopped sharpening arrows long enough to look up at Otoparo. Hali, his tiger, followed her master’s gaze. Otoparo either didn’t notice the insult Lonath had added in, or didn’t care. In either case—I can't visualize Tayjan because I have no idea what he looks like. I know he's a hunter, but that's it. My mind imagines an orc, but I don't know if that's right or not.

You're going to have to forgive the first parts of all three stories. This was during the "You know, let me just make this stuff up as I go along" phase. Honestly, I don't think I really had any idea of what was going on, at that point.
...look, I'm lazy.
On a serious note, Tayjan is a troll hunter. Beast Mastery specced. It's a little easier to keep that kind of stuff in mind when they start talkin', mon. What wit' do voodoo.
I'll keep any eye out for that. Thanks for the input.
And yeah, Awakening is just a damn tearjerker. There's really no getting around that. Things will start looking up, though. For everyone.

Did you read my series, by the way? Your writing reminds me of my own.
Also, with the new parts, is it intended to be read Awakening 1, Awakening 2, etc. or Awakening 1, Redemption 1, Sacrifice 1, Awakening 2, etc. or can they be read in any order?

By the way Supremacy, despite our frequent (and heated) disagreements on Varian and other matters, I do respect you. You always made a good point. And you're a good writer too. ;)

Ah, yes. To answer the question (since I did kind of switch things up), the order is pretty they're to be read in is pretty much alphabetical. Awakening I, Redemption I, Sacrfice I. So, the order is actually as follows:
A - I
R - I
S - I
A - II
R - II
S - II
I'm going to be releasing each section on the same date, so you can also go by that, as well. In hindsight, I might just rearrange how those are arranged up there, to make it clearer.
Also, thanks for the feedback. Erm...though, maybe let's try to keep some of the potential spoilers to you, know. A minimum.
Because the ones that come up, man alive, they are going to be some doozies.
Also, I've found it's always best to "disagree without being disagreeable". Good show.

Very good, and now that you're saying it will be a rigid fixture, brilliant!

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone you'd like to see more of, as far as for the next story? Character-wise, I mean. Just kind of wondering if you guys want to see anyone else developed any more. I mean, I already know (for the most part) where I'm going with these characters, so it's not like they're not developed for me. I already know why Solador is a rogue, for example, and how the rest of the people end up. But I would like your feedback, as far as that goes.
I'm trying to avoid a situation where it's like all of a sudden, this character I mentioned once swoops in and saves the day
from crazed murlocs wielding Ashbringer
with no real warning, or anything.
Thanks for the positive feedback.

Big hurrah about me keeping on track with this, right?
Yeah.
Funny story. Turns out my habit of ignoring cold/flu symptoms? Seems that that is not as successful as one would imagine. Go figure, right?
Anyway, more to the point, it put me off schedule. I'm working hard on getting this back up to date. Expect something by Saturday. Probably before then (like Thursday/Friday, even Wednesday if I'm feelin' the funk), but definitely by Saturday.
Also, headaches aren't fun.

Hope you get better soon enough for some more good reading material. I have only said

The new pages are up. More to the actual point, I might have to rework...I don't know, the format? The...I'm trying to avoid confusion about this.
The order to read things (which is not necessarily all that clear at first) is kind of A - I, R - I, S - I, A - II, R - II, S - II, A - III, R - III, S - III, etc.
This is starkly in contrast to my initial "these can all be standalone things!" claim from before. A claim that's still in the original post. It was like that, before, but I changed it to make it a more...well, better.
If it helps, you can imagine it like this:
Part I
Awakening
Redemption
Sacrifice
Part II
Awakening
Redemption
Sacrifice
That may actually, now that I look at that, be how I rearrange things.
Yeah. Yeah, I might run with that. I'll let you know.
I hope you enjoy the latest installment. Comments and feedback are welcome, though I would humbly request that you ask any questions that may be what you kids call "spoilers" (I'm not down with all your hep internet talk) in the Q & A, provided you can find it way back there. I almost
couldn't find it
.
But, I'm lazy, so...there's that.
