And there's only 3 pieces of cloth gear that have hit rating on them (gloves, chest, bracers). Heck, only the Druid tier Helm and Shoulders have hit rating on them; you need to get your hit from trinkets, rings, cloak, and neck, which puts you in the same boat as all of the other caster DPS.

There is 15 cloth pieces in 10 man Naxx and there is 15 leather pieces; where is this 3:1 ratio?
You're probably counting melee-dps/tanking leather.

There is 15 cloth pieces in 10 man Naxx and there is 15 leather pieces; where is this 3:1 ratio?
There are 8 leather pieces that drop that have spell power on them, one for each armor slot. Each item has spirit, spell power, and either haste (5) or crit (3).
There are 16 cloth pieces that drop that have spell power on them, two for each armor slot. Some have spirit/haste (4), some have spirit/crit (5), some have spirit/hit (2). Of the five that do not have spirit, four of them have haste/MP5, and one is haste/hit.
So a 2:1 ratio.
How many classes would use leather spellpower with spirit gear? One, druids. Spirit does nothing for Paladins or Shamans and thus they wouldn't (shouldn't) want any of those 8 drops.
How many classes would use cloth spellpower with spirit? Three, priests, warlocks, mages. Four if you count druids who would take those items as well.
So you have 8 leather pieces that would go only to druids, two specs if you want to count Boomkins and Resto separately. You have 16 cloth items that 3 cloth-only classes are all going after , and druids want to have a go at also...
That's the reason, whenever I play my druid, I always give cloth-only classes first dibs on cloth gear. If no one wants it, sure I'll take it, but they should have first dibs. I know that when my leather gear drops I'll be the only one who can use it, and I'd take to take a cloth piece away from someone who doesn't have any other options.

Thankfully most guilds I know give clothies priority on cloth. If no clothie needs a piece for main spec then duke it out with druids, sure.
Besides I rarely see a 25 man with more than 1-2 boomkins, and how many priests/locks/mages do you have in an average raid? WAY more than 1-2, that's for sure. So giving druids priority on cloth when there are 3 classes that outnumber druids by a huge amount that are locked in this one armor type is just silly. It means that boomkins get leather by default and get to take cloth as well. If that's fair to you then carry on...

Look.
Cloth Bracers, not BiS for druids, not BiS for mage, both need.
Mage > Druid
Cloth Bracers, BiS for druids, not BiS for mage.
Druid > Mage
Cloth Bracers, not BiS for druids, BiS for mage.
Mage > Druid
Cloth Bracers, BiS for both, when there isn't a equally good leather.
Both roll.
Cloth Bracers, BiS for both, there exists an equally good leather.
Mage > Druid.
And that's how I roll
It's literally impossible to judge each piece of gear in this manner.
If it's an up, and the player can wear it, they should roll.
End of story.

reasons like the OP said is why im glad im off-raid leader in a laid bak raiding guild
all our main raiders weither it be Resto Drood, Doomkin, Mage, lock or Holy-shad priest dont care who rolls on what as long as its a true upgrade, we just get crabby wen healers try and roll on hit gear someone else who is caster deeps can use, but mainly it goes on how big of upgrade it is, lets say Arcane mage has iLvl200 epic bracers and a Doomkin has iLvl200 superior(blue) bracers, we let the 2 roll off on it and say the druid got a 58 and the mage got a 63 or lower since the rolls are close i'd talk to mage about letting druid have them since rolls were close and hes in blue
this convo is in the same lines of Elem-Resto Shams and Holy Pallies rolling on spell power, crit, mp5, intell mail pieces, its a joke, if its a true upgrade roll on it
if u dont know how to see if something is true upgrade try out
