/sigh
those numbers are useless without details.
personalised numbers have a very limited scope at the best of times (even a BiS profile's weights) but without details such as your
spec
, rotation/priorities, glyphs, gear point, gemming (to name but a few) they are utterly meaningless.
this is all before even questioning the accuracy of the numbers themselves. what tool did you use to get these numbers? how well developed is that tool since all the changes to 4.0.1?

Patch 4.0.3
First attempt to do this right, as per anything from Asakawa, normal disclaimer applies, as well as the fact that I could be very wrong :D
Profile's have been linked, but are in simulationCraft style, not pretty (and easy to see) WoWhead format. I may create some for it one day.
I didn't generate these numbers myself
Out of laziness I've not posted the talent specs (this may change), these are all standard spec's, so you should be able to find them elsewhere in the stickies! Affdrain drops 1 point from bane and puts it into Dark Arts, giving 31/1/9.

Also didn't post BiS, because not much changes, if you actually use the values in formulae, you've probably got it from somewhere else anyway. The only notable difference is that Mastery goes above Haste when using BiS for AffDrain... questionable whether players can actually make use of that extra 0.3...

fair stuff to post but
a simple link
gives all the same info and more.
the aim was usually to work out a starter set for fresh 80s. the pre-raid set currently used by EJ is far closer to this idea of a starter set than we'll see again as we move into future tiers but it's still a list of best in slot gear, just "BiS without setting foot in a raid" and we all know that the set can take time to put together.
i have no idea if wowhead uses the info presented in these threads since there's never been a follow up from malgayne so it's difficult to know if the idea is still to create info that will be most useful for wowheads default weights or if we're just supposed to make info that's useful for readers of this thread.
however, if we want to make info for wowhead's stat weights then we ought to come up with a reasonable starter set using wowhead's profile system and gather weights from that. this can be a group effort, i'm not saying any specifically ought to go and make it.

I wasn't sure what the rules are like with regards to linking to other sites like EJ.
I was just looking to update a thread that has quite old numbers, such as the significant weight on spirit. Since not everybody will put the effort in to read anything but the numbers here :)

yeah understood. i'm not putting your post down at all just wondering if we can fine tune the info a bit to be most relevant to wowhead's needs - whether that be its default weights or just informing people.

With patch 4.1 just around the corner I thought I'd start work on some stat weights for new Warlocks looking to start raiding.
I made up a profile with only item level 346 gear that can be obtained with Justice Points, from Reputation vendors or from Heroic dungeons. I haven't used even the relatively easily obtainable (crafted) epic quality gear but it is a well balanced and Hit capped set that would be time-consuming to collect so it probably evens out overall.
The idea is to get a general idea of the relative weights for the different specs at good blue quality gear level and, as ever, I strongly urge anyone looking for specific or accurate data to use Simulationcraft themselves.
These are 4.1 (currently PTR) numbers!

I think it would also be interesting to also add a section mentioning which pets you should use for example, as demo.

Out of curiosity asakawa, has the mastery become a better stat for firelands gear level?
Kinda like mastery becoming a tad better than haste from 359 to 372 for demo.
edit: correction on spec mentioning
Post by
asakawa
Well, it looks like Haste is stronger than Mastery when using the T12heroic BiS set that EJ's using.

Oh well, seems like afflic gotta stick with haste and crit. I really like it but I wish mastery would be more meaningful, with so many dots it could be way better.
