The only positive I saw is that recount might actually count my shields so I can stop having idiotic raid leaders who just stare at heal meters to decide who's the best.

So basically he's saying "nope, everything's fine!" to the proposed issues, which is kind of annoying. He discusses Greater Heal a lot and says that it's an issue, but doesn't really propose any long-term solution for it either.
Disc Priests will get a chance to use it once in a blue moon seeing as how every GCD has to be perfectly spent in Ulduar, and while it's a staple for Holy Priests by the time they get it off on the tank, he'll already be dead from the three 10k hits that land in two seconds.
Damage in endgame content is way too bursty right now to make healing anything else than a continuous Flash Heal / Penance / Bubblespam as a MT healer. Then they excuse all the nerfs with a "PvP balance" schpiel, turning PvE encounters into little more than a fight against RNG for priest healers.
With the state of things right now it's actually more attractive to take a Paladin as an MT healer in most Ulduar encounters than a Disc. Priest, which wouldn't be a problem if we could top DPS charts as Shadow and tank efficiently as well, but I get the feeling that Priest players are being told to go PvP and leave the Raid healing to the Hybrids, which is kind of sad.

This. Also, the fact that he recognises how useless Lightwell is...but then he suggests a stupid alternative. >_>
Having said this, I'm off to pack my bags. I'm going to put a siege on Blizzard's HQ, let them starve until they give me GC, kill him with a ritual knife, eat his heart and become the new class designer.
Who's with me? Join the fun. ;-p
I am in for that. Let me fly over the pond first. ;)
But really, the Priest Q&A had so much hype around it - the last Q&A. They had plenty of time to address more important issues (like haste scaling)...yet our Q&A seemed the most rushed.

Was pretty wank. I've given up expecting any solid answers. It's too much of a political battleground to get anything substantial any more. No issues that were important were solved or even questioned. Pathetic as usual.

I am a
prescient wonder
. How am I so good.
Have you read any of the Qs&As? They will not satisfy. They are largely puff pieces, with a bit of tease, a trace of humility, and a lot of "things are basically where we want them to be." Don't get your hopes up.
Although I did miss one obvious component of the series: abject avoidance. I have yet to ascertain the purpose or intended audience for these Qs&As. Perhaps first drafts for the next version of the game manual?
The Priest is the master of healing. Other classes such as the Druid, Paladin and Shaman can also heal, but not nearly as well as a Priest. Their usefulness in groups means you usually won't have to hunt alone. Priests can also be quite effective in PvP, especially if you invest heavily in Shadow talents.Lol times have changed, mostly for the better (IMO).
My trivial additions to Val's full-on assault on the silly Q&A:
Dispersion
: "Nearly all shadow priests take it." But how often do they
use it
, and not just between trash pulls?
Vampiric Embrace
: Who has ever asked about the threat from VE? Ok, in BC, sure, but this required attention in our Q&A? Wow...
Mind Flay
: About time they changed the glyph. But, alas, it's on the "we can look at it" list, not the 3.2 patch notes. Strange, because this isn't a massive rebalancing or reprogramming issue; a simple tweak to the glyph and it's done. No one loses, and shadow priests get a little bit of much-needed love.
SW:Death
: Yes, please remove the huge backlash damage on Thaddius et. al., it's just silly. But why was this mentioned in the Q&A? Were not enough pertinent and useful questions posed on the forums?
Greater Heal
: Fair enough, this is a tough balancing act as raid content progresses. Some disc priests spec for it and use it happily, but in a 25-man environment, that long cast translates into overheal (or tank death). Despite there being a lack of a true answer in this question, I appreciated it being addressed.
Divine Hymn
: Apparently GC forgot to read the questions people who actually play priests posted on the forums. If this was asked, it was by someone just brainstorming for things to ask. It is miles away from the core of priesting, and if it gets buffed or nerfed, who really cares?
Pain Suppression
: "Are there any possible improvements?" Lol, what! Again, was this asked in the forums, or just added as bizarre filler?
I do think the one massive omission was the double-question that flooded the forums (and which Val mentioned above as well). Namely, how can shadow priests respond to burst events (XT's heart for one obvious example)? And why do they scale so poorly with haste, despite haste being drizzled on every piece of gear, including tier gear?
Overall the forums were filled with shadow priest QQ -- I mean questions -- and 90% of them were (A) desperately seeking pvp help, or (B) need pve burst. He addressed the former (without actually answering any question usefully) and ignored the latter.
The fact that healer questions were not addressed substantially is actually fine with me, and I'm a full-time disc healer. Priest healing remains satisfying in the extreme, IMO. I only posed two questions on the forums, and they were both addressed. (Namely, why cannot PW:shield crit -- well, in 3.2 at least a crit will pop an aegis bubble -- and when can we expect to see mitigation tracked in the combat logs -- which he addressed in the Q&A.)

1) I wish Blizzard would just make talents work differently in PvP than they do in PvE and get it over with already. For the small percentage of people that both PvP and PvE alot, they will get used to it. For the rest of us (PvE'ers) these changes in 3.2 are the crap.
2) My burst as Shadow is light compared to other classes. I dont really care. As long as on a long fight (3 minutes) I can do good DPS, I am happy.
3) I HATE HASTE. Make my dots get hasted and I might like it. With 400+ haste, a MB Crit and BL, my casting bar for MF is faster than the animation for warp plasma.
4) What happened to DP only on one mob at a time? Sure, the first trash gets it, but the second guy looks at me like "you can't cast that for 15 secs" and I wanna scream.
5) I love Dispersion. I love it because it is funny. When do I use it? Between trash pulls and if I have to run on Mimiron during laser barrage. Our overall DPS is too low to use it for mana in a fight, i.e. Evocation.
6) I think GC had the guy sitting next to him make up the questions, they were passed on to a lawyer, and then watered down in a good soaking rain.
7) I am not changing to any other class. I love my Shadow Priest.
Edit: I love being a premium member so I don't have to type "crap in a box" anymore.

With the way changes have been moving since right before Ulduar, I was starting to doubt the devs have any clue left about the game they design.
After the Q&A's, the ignored player feedback, and how the game design is getting worse with each patch, I'm sure the devs are now clueless.
Personally, I'm considering moving on to something else and leaving WoW behind. I figure all the good content designers were sent to work on Blizzard's new MMO and we're stuck with an understaffed and backwards teams of people trying to give us just enough to keep us paying.
As things stand, I'm not interested in waiting another 8 months or so for the next expansion, which might suck harder than this one, just to see the game become enjoyable again rather than bland and frustrating.

Hum... Well, they seem extremely vague. I know i don't play wow for a while, but i did not see many "X will be done" things.
Shadow sure has a PvP problem. Well, that is interesting to know. But it is not exactly the problem, and i will try to explain.
Player versus Player is designed based on a fully -insert last season- geared player. Of course, a 1000 Resilience priest should find his way long enough to get at least some dots rolling on his target. However, most players in an entrance-level do indeed have a lot of problems. The pre-2000 rating team matches are very unforgiving, both in skill and weaponry. That being said, Blizzard is struggling to find balance in an increasingly QQing community that PvP in lower levels of gear. WoW official forums suck badly.
The way things have been done, general rule is that instant=better (both cast and duration). Having such a dot/cast time based class as we are, and such few ways of stopping it, we struggle. This is much more noticeable when you have 14k hp than when you have 21k hp.
Bring us burst? I don't think that'll fix it... By the way things are, gear up as Discipline, to then be able to try shadow.
The Dispersion issue? GC never used it against a combo-user class, did he? ending with 5 combo points and energy they've been saving, to unleash directly on you, while you're supposedly already weakened enough to cast it? Dispersion, believe it or not, might be nice in pvp, but not as good as one would think. It is not an Ice Block or Divine Shield, mind you.
I hate to say things without actually having something better to suggest, but i just think they aren't heading the right direction.
The final note for pve pvp question. I cannot say i am experienced as Shadow PvE-wise, i only did heroics and a couple of raids. But I think i'm not bad in comparison to other classes... Most of the time, when facing equally-skilled players, i could rival or surpass their dps. My mobility spells are also nice, and i like dispersion on here. Vampiric Embrace never really bothered me at all.
The little concern with pve heals also distrubs me... I don't think they adressed our true concerns, altough the absorption effect will help a lot of misinformed players.
My final note... I agree that they need to take a look into pvp a LOT more than pve. Someone stated pve is usually undervalued... believe me, it is not. PvP is in a point where a combination of classes is not better, it is NEEDED to achieve certain ratings. PvE encounters are mostly designed for at least each class having a role, the only "required class" fight i can remember is Razuvious. Altough, i must admit, there is very little i know of ulduar.
EDIT: Another note for Prime...
After the Q&A's, the ignored player feedback, and how the game design is getting worse with each patch, I'm sure the devs are now clueless.
Unfortunately, they take their foruns as a base. The users there usually are extremely innacurate, and there's more QQers there than in any other places.
QQQQQQQnerf flash heal, it can make that green bar on the portrait go greener!
