cause really, Skyrim is the living breathing definition of epicness but it has more bugs than a 10$ prostitute.
I seriously have encountered almost no bugs so far besides a few NPCs that did wonky things. Between this and the dragon genocide in Whiterun I say again you have extrodinarily bad luck...

Also after doing a bit more of the main quest I have decided that I $%^&ING HATE THE THALMOR. I hope in the sequel you get to gear up and KICK SOME ELF ASS. I was originaly gonna side with the legion, but after hearing about the ammount of ell @#$% the empire has been sucking Im going Stormcloaks all the way.

Omfg. Cmon...really?
They did the same thing with New Vegas DLC. Bethesda is getting some heavy cash from Microsoft for the short term exclusivity. I don't really mind.
if new vegas is any indication, they now know how to properly make expansions.
New Vegas was made by Obsidian and the DLC's were designed by
Chris Avellone
. Skyrim doesn't have that. It's kind of a large difference.

I really wonder hard whether there is some grayness in there, because so far it really looks like the Nords are simply the good side and the Empire is the bad side. None of their actions seem to be justified, well except for "we want to own ALL the land and have ALL the power".

Idk if the Empire is on the bad side, they just seem to be trapped between a big elfish rock and a hard place. Cyrodill cant afford another war (although everyone knows another one is comming eventualy anyway), so their only real option is to roll over to the Thalmors demands. Of course this only wound up making things worse since it caused High Rock to succeed and flip both the Empire and Thalmor the bird (who knew Bretons had the balls), and now Skyrim is in a civil war about weather or not to remain with the empire as well.
There is some grey area, I have heard several NPCs describe the Stormcloaks as biggots and xenophobic, not wanting anybody but Nords in Skyrim.
And of course if Skyrim does succeed as well that just leaves Cyrodill (whats left of it), Elsweyr, and Hammerfell. Not sure where Black Marsh lands in all this.

didn't you read my post regarding my opinions of the Thalmor Dominion? they are ALMOST nazi elves :P the similarities are really huge, even their robes have a certain gestapo vibe to them.
Yes at first I was kinda leaning towards the empire (Specially given how much a force of good they've been in the other 4 games) but 200 years is a lot of times for things to change, and change they have. The Empire is but a shadow of its former self and skyrim is better off without them. Already most of Tamriel separated from it (Only Cyrodiil and Skyrim are part of the Empire because High Rock is almost out).
This is why I felt little to no remorse at all when
I killed the Emperor on the last Dark Brotherhood quest
And yes, I hope the next Elder Scroll takes us to Summerfell where we can crush the thalmor. I also love how the main campaign and the Empire Vs Stormcloak war are 2 separate campaigns. Overall this is a game with a TON of replaying potential, and I for one will be re-doing everything again soon enough.
but yes Ryja and Thor, read my former post regarding the Dominion and the Empire. (For the record, the Empire is not exactly "Evil" but they are giving free leeway for the Dominion to commit their atrocities, which is just as bad)

well, in all fairness the empire has more reasonable people than the stormcloaks who are hot-blooded and impatient. General Tullius is far more reasonable than Ulrik (You later in the main campaign have to broker a temporal truce between both sides) and his Legate (despite being snarky) is also very reasonable. My gripe with them is how they allow the Thalmor to do what they please, because the Thalmor are un-avoidably pure evil.

nope.
The Dominion first conquered Valenwood and Elsweyr when they began expanding, thus those 2 are no longer part of the empire. Red Mountain exploded destroying most of morrowind and what little didn't explode was conquered by black marsh who also separated. Then the Dominion attacked Hammerfell and when they asked the empire to help them THEY REFUSED, leaving Hammerfell to fend for themselves, and they did repelled the Dominion but because the empire refused to help them, they also left the empire, High Rock soon saw that it was in their best interest to leave too and forge an alliance with Hammerfell.
in resume out of the 10 nations of Tamriel:
Summerset Isle: Capital of the Dominion.
Valenwood: Annexed to the Dominion, and all wood elves are now slaves.
Elsweyr: Annexed to the Dominion, and all Khajiit are now slaves.
Black Marsh: Left the Empire, formed their own mini-empire by annexing morrowind.
Morrowind: most of it destroyed, what little remained is now property of the Black Marsh.
Hammerfell: left the empire after they had to fend off the Dominion for themselves.
High Rock: seeing how Hammerfell was left out to die by the empire they also left and formed a league with Hammerfell.
Cyrodiil: last remnant of the Empire, severely crippled by the war with the Dominion, they had to become the Dominion's B1tches to avoid anihilation.
Skyrim: for now, a part of the empire, but also wants to separate from it (or at least half of it does)

NOOOOOOOOOO T_T Shadowmere is not inmortal on this game............
for clarification Shadowmere is an unholy horse that you got on Oblivion by doing the dark brotherhood quests, it was the fastest horse in the game, and had the added advantage that it was immortal, every time she got killed, she revived later.
That same Shadowmere comes back on Skyrim, and in an awesome sequence too, and I honestly thought she was immortal because she got quite a bit of punishment by brigands, ice trolls, and even dragons and didn't died. She actually helped me often in combat, as she has quite a kick. Then I jump of a cliff a bit too high, she dies, I go "meh, I'll just wait 1 min for her to get back up"..........(3 minutes later) "Aaaaaany minute now".................. (another 4 minutes later) "yep, any minute now...... SEE? there you go.... ohh wait, that was gravity, she just rolled lower......." (another 5 minutes later) "NOO YOU REALLY ARE DEAD? WHY WHY WHY?"
I felt so bad I reloaded my game and took a whole extra 20 minutes to go around the cliff and keep my horsie alive. ='(
Thank goodness I got a save-compulsion, and I press F5 every minute or so, in fact, its safe to say I quick-save 140 times per hour at the min.

I hate that horse, the only goods it's done me is tank dragons, and it annoys me poping up everywhere I fast travel.
As for the Thalmor, indeed they do seem rather naziesqe. I didn't know hammerfell and elswyer were no longer part of the empire. I wasn't sure about Black Marsh, I knew the Argonians invaded Morrowind after the red year when red mountain blew up and the ministry of truth crashed into Vivec city, but I wasn't sure if they were technically still part of the empire or not. In either case I doubt they would ever side with the Thalmor willingly given the way elves have traditionally treated the beast folk.

Also where do the orcs land in all this? IMO the Orcs and Nords need to form their own empire, which would be a paragon of pure manliness in this new, war torn world, who kill elves by grabbing both of their arms and headbutting them right in the teeth.
AND DAMN I just remembered that when you finish the main quest in Oblivion and ask people about rumors, they say that they have heard of trouble brewing in the Sumerset Isles. It's awesome how far ahead Bethesda plans their stuff.

Orcs dont have a nation of their own, they live on Orsinium I think its called, and its a teeny-tiny region between Hammerfell and High-Rock, its not large enough to be considered a Kingdom per-se, and orcs pretty much are treated like beasts on most places..... =/

Well I've finished the main campaign, and I gotta say......... IT WAS SO EPIC AND AWESOME....... I'm.... I really am speechless.
What a cosmic leap from the main campaign from Oblivion. It left much to be desired when on oblivion, the sidequests were more fun and interesting than the campaign which was rather bland, generic, and un-impressive (specially since you're not even the protagonist of that campaign, Martin is, and he's not even a good protagonist either)
And here is a small resume of the Main Campaign ending:
Well, everyone thought dragons were extinct, hunted down to the last one, and not seen for thousands of years, when on a legendary battle, 3 heroes of skyrim battled Anduin and defeated him, and after his defeat, the rest of dragonkind was hunted down to extinction.
But as you later find out, turns out the 3 Legendary heroes of Skyrim never did defeated Alduin, even when they invented a Dragon Shout that was kryptonite to dragons, Alduin was too strong, so they used an Elder Scroll to banish him in time, he wasn't killed, simply sent to the future, to the year 201 of the fourth era, the year the game takes place. And if dragons are extinct, how exactly are they going on a rampage? Alduin has been resurrecting them one by one by visiting the old dragon graveyards.
After going to great lengths on the main campaign to find a weakspot for Alduin, you end up retrieving an Elder Scroll, read it atop the highest mountain on Skyrim, and get set 4000 years into the past, to see the legendary battle between the 3 heroes of skyrim(Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, Hakon One-Eye and Felldir the Old) vs Alduin. By watching them fight Alduin, you learn their Dragonrend shout that allows you to pull dragons out of the sky. Now that you know how to bring Alduin to the ground, suddenly Alduin attacks you.
For all the talk of him being so powerful, he was rather easy, just spam DragonRend every time its off cooldown, stick to his sides, dont stand on his back or his front, and unleash everything you got on him. When he's nearly dead he says "Screw this I'm out of here" and cheats =( he travels to the Sovngarde, Kinda like Skyrim's version of Valhalla. There he feasts on the souls of long dead heroes to both heal himself and make himself stronger for your second fight.
So, now the problem is how do you get to Sovngarde? I mean the easy way is to die, if you were an honorable warrior, and fought for glory, your soul will go to Sovngarde when you die, but that plan sucks, so there's got to be a better way. The plan? CAPTURE YOUR OWN DRAGON. Turns out the castle of Whiterun is also a giant Dragon-trap, it was used to capture a dragon by its first Jarl (you can see the skull of this dragon on the throne room).
Slight problem with that, Whiterun is "neutral" on the Empire vs Stormcloak war, they've chosen neither side, (they lean towards the empire, as such, they dont allow stormcloaks in the city, but also dont send troops to fight them either) IF they allow a dragon to come to their city, that would leave it weakened, and in that weakened state, either the empire or the stormcloaks could attack the city and take it since its a strategic point in skyrim.
So, before trapping a dragon you gotta broker a temporal truce between Empire and Rebels, I gotta say, this was one of the most interesting quests I've ever done on an RPG, and the amount of posibilities are endless. Since at this point I had yet to choose a side, I was seen as a neutral figure by both sides and wasn't too hard to broker a truce treaty, but if by this point you have chosen a side, this quest unfolds in a completely different way.
Also, since the Empire vs Rebel war is completely unrelated to the main campaign, if before reaching this point you have joined a side, and completed all quests for that side, the war is over, and thus no need for truce, since one side already won.
Either way, once you capture a dragon (you use his true-name to lure him and then SNAP, trap him) YOU RIDE ON HIS BACK to the one place in all of tamriel that allows mortals to enter the plane of the dead, once there, you actually enter Valhalla, and I gotta say IT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, even on my crappy PC, the place was pure scenery porn.
On Valhalla, you enter the Hall of Heroes, where all the dead heroes of skyrim live in the afterlife, including notable figures such as the founder of the companions, the first Jarl of Skyrim, the first greybeard, and of course the 3 legendary heroes of skyrim. Together the 3 of you fight Alduin on the Sovngarde, with an epic music to boot.
I gotta say, Alduin was BLOODY HARD this time around, no pushover, I had to retry 4 times before killing him, (had to let the 3 heroes tank him while i poked at him from the sides) and his death animation is truly epic. After invading Heaven, and defeating the Son of God (Alduin is the rebel son of Akatosh) you are praised by all the heroes of Sovngarde as the greatest hero of this era, and send back to the land of hte living, with the assurance that once you live the rest of your days, you will return here, and reap your well deserved reward.
Once you return to Tamriel, you are in the highest mountain of skyrim and...... SURPRISE, EVERY SINGLE DRAGON IN SKYRIM IS THERE, waiting, they were awaiting who would be the victor in Sovngarde, you or Alduin. After they see that it was you who won vs the strongest dragon of all times, the run away scared sh1tless before acknowledging that you are the superior Dovah (Dragon) and that they have no chance in hell of defeating you. They bow their heads in reverence, and then fly the f*ck out of there before you wipe the floor with them. The one dragon you captured, says it has been an honor to have served you and whenever you call upon him, he will come and aid you.
Needless to say, this is one of the most epic campaigns I've ever done on an RPG, and God knows I've done plenty. I haven't felt a surge of epicness this big since Chrono Trigger.

I find playing Skyrim is a good way to turn my computer into a space heater.
If anyone is crashing to their Desktop, try disabling Antialiasing and Antistrophic Filtering. That worked for me, and I've done nearly 12 hours without crashing.

well, I've completed the Civil War campaign, and I gotta say, it was really good. Later on during that campaign you get to storm several castles, with tons of friendly and enemy NPCs, it feels like a truly heated battle.
surprisingly, the quests for both sides are nearly identical, it comes down to pure flavor when it comes to what faction you wanna support. And both sides have some truly fantastic quotes.
Heck, just as I was 100% against the empire, I started the Civil War campaign on the Empire's side on an alt save, and wow, now I'm back at 50/50 for both sides. Yep, General Tullius is also against the Dominion, but he claims that only a united tamriel will ever stand a chance against them, and if the empire fractures, if each nation goes rogue, then one by one the Dominion will pick them off. He claims that for the time being they have to bend their knee, and also enforce that no more nations leave the empire, for only then will they be able to crush the dominion.
Sounds like BS; but his wording was better than mine, and his speeches to the troops are truly badass. (Doesn't hurt that the dude looks A LOT like Julius Caesar.

Something I would really like to know is... does the campaign affect other quest NPC's? I mean, storming Solitude with a fairly large amount of angry Nords, I can imagine casualties in the lines of quest NPC's. And I surely wouldn't want to see that, at least not before I finish all the quests.
I had a wonderful hunt under the blood moon today btw. The moment I noticed that the sky above me has a huge crimson red moon all over it was pretty epic, and I always found the red moon pretty creepy so it was creepy as well. Cuirass of the Savior's Hide? Thanks, Hircine! (It is worse than the Nightingale chestpiece. :-/ )

Thus far I have only completed the Dark Brotherhood, a few of the main quests, and 2 Deadra quests. Everything els has been exploration and side quests, so I think its safe to say I have a long way to go before Im done with the game.
I also relise it is
way
too early to be talking about this since we have at least 2 expansions plus Fallout 4 to get through before the next game comes up. But I really hope Elder Scrolls VI takes place in Black Marsh. I would love to have a game that explores Argonian culture, where you can travel around creepy swamp lands, join the shadowscales (maby even go to Morrowind again). Plus it would be a new perspective since it would be the first gane to technicly take place outside the empire.

Lorewise, I'm conflicted about Skyrim.
My first Elder Scrolls game was Oblivion. If I judge Skyrim by directly comparing it to Oblivion, it's the biggest breakthrough for Bethesda. It's the best game they ever made.
However, there is one point in Bethesda's lore that can't be outmached by anything in Skyrim, and that's the concept of Dragon Break.
