I have always wanted to level a healer (NOT A PALADIN, I STILL HAVE NIGHTMARES OF BLESSING 40 PEOPLE EVERY 5 MINUTES AND CLEANSE SPAMMING), so i decided to level a Druid. The last time I tried, the best spec was to mêlée as Balance, and you had to avoid Feral like the plague.
I gave up at level 32.
Yeah.
So the new druid.
She's about to get Dual Spec (hopefully this weekend), and up until now I have been Feral healing when needed using this priority:
Rejuvenation > Healing Touch
and Regrowth when i really really could use another HoT, and it's worked out alright so far with caster gear (yeah i collect caster gear, need to get in the habit early right?).
So assuming I use a spec like this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZZf0fuduxmz
Would I be correct to say that my new priority is:
Rejuvenation > Regrowth > Swiftmend > NS+HT?
Where would Healing Touch (without NS) fit in? (I don't have tree form, so I think it would be perfectly valid to consider using it at one point or other.)
For something completely different...
How do i tank as a low level bear? Enrage, Demoralizing Roar, spam Swipe until i'm confident I have a little aggro on each mob (while positioning them so I'm facing them all), then maul one by one?
How do Mangle and Lacerate fit in against Maul? Reading the skill descriptions, it seems like this is what you'd do to keep threat:
1. Swipe to get mob attention.
2. Demoralizing > Mangle > Lacerate > Maul (if rage is a non issue).
3. Growl if necessary.
Do we get any emergency buttons? Cooldowns? The only one i found was Survival Instincts, which is basically Last Stand (very finicky from my experience as a warrior, since sometimes healers forget about Last Stand and wonder how i magically lose health and die. Even after having a /yell macro attached to it.).
Thanks in advance!

As far as the tanking question I am not sure exactly what level you are talking about but Barkskin and frenzied regeneration are your main panic buttons (though barkskin should be used a lot as it is a big mitigation bonus)
Though i havent feral tanked since 3.1 so i might be outdated.

Doh, I forgot those two skills! >_<
Okay, that helps a lot now., thanks! For a moment i thought all druids had going for them was high HP and armor (which got nerfed).

Thank you for the healing tips. =)

I would have too, if I failed as epically as this. Feral is what you melee in, Balance is for being a caster. Feral is the fastest way to level, so you wouldn't want to avoid that.
Please do not misunderstand,
this is what the talent tree for a Druid looked like when i tried one
.
Cat form with buffs and Shadowcraft Gear did the same DPS as an equivalent level/gear Rogue, yes. But this was assuming the Rogue had Resurrection Sickness and the Druid did not.
EDIT: This was of course assuming said Druid
was Feral and picked all the relevant Cat talents
.

mareimbri - reasons for modifications noted, and taken into consideration
Arctrix - Fair enough, but don't tanks swim in aggro these days? On my DK and Warrior it's usually the healer that's lowest in Omen.
EDIT: Still not 40 yet,
couldn't play this weekend
.

I am rather pleased with myself. The only way it could have been better was if i could actually find people who want to run SM/Uldaman, so i can heal.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have Dual Spec on a level 40 druid. =)

Ok, so I've got Mangle and ToL.
Now the question for today is about Mangle.
Once I've mangled a mob, it's better to shred right? TBH I'm noticing that Mangle does a bit better than Shred for damage, and that Mangle is actually cheaper. How does this work out anyway?

The mangle debuff buffs your shred by 30%. I usually pounce (with brutal impact for an extra second on the stun) > mangle > shred until stun wears off. The advantage of shred is that it cannot be dodged/parried because you're behind and it should do more damage with the mangle debuff. In PvP I always make sure I use shred as much as possible. Maim ASAP after pounce and shred on.

What i meant was that the mangle debuff still did not give shred a big enough boost to outdamage mangle.
But anyway, 5 minutes with a calculator and i just figured out that mangle does 30 more damage (even with shred buff) for less energy, until i get a new rank of shred at level 54.
Until then, i guess it's mangle spam

Fair enough, thanks again for tanking advice, I'm about to replace Maul glyph but wasn't looking forward to losing that buff to maul.
No, I did not take Rend & Tear into account, as I didn't have it, but you brought up an interesting possibility.
The damage multiplier for Savage Fury boosts is 20% so mangle goes from 200% +198 to 240% +198.
Does it work the same way and buff Shred from 225% multiplier to (225% *1.2) 270%?
EDIT: Also I had issues getting a Pounce + Shred + Shred before this. I live in Asia, and we get like 600ms latency to WoW on a good day. For a moment, i was actually contemplating getting 1/2 Brutal Impact for the time buffer, but since the kitty damage dealer just went from Shred to Mangle, I'll hold off until i'm can confirm that 36 energy mangle is good enough buff to allow a shred in between.
I just wish there was a talent that reduced Pounce energy by 5 or something.

Actually I do have a mouseover growl and moonfire macro, but i didn't think about it for Lacerate (don't have it yet), so thanks.

By the way, do you have
shredding attacks
? It substantially decreases energy consumption with shred. With that talent and King of the Jungle later on you can actually get off a pounce/mangle/2x shred.

Yes i have it.
Is Improved Mangle a must? I don't really see the need for it in terms of DPS (it looks ok for levelling though).
This is what i have:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrkbeR0huVkbEczb
0/3 Improved Mangle - I figured it's an all or nothing talent.
1/2 Brutal Impact - for the ability to mangle + shred while soloing.
5/5 Furor - For the odd moments when i tank.
