Well, I have no idea what's supposed to happen that changes him.
We know two things.
1. Current Garrosh is an utter &*!@#$bag, and would be best suited to lead a crop of spinach.
2. Cataclysm Garrosh is promised to have changed and will not lead the Horde in the direction he is not.
Considering A) 3.3 is the last major patch of the Xpac, and B) Garrosh isn't even on the list of NPCs in the raid, I have no idea what's going to happen. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
And of course there's the Cataclysm novel...

Varian works, and Garrosh doesn't.
For all that people say that Varian is a one dimensional character, he's actually not. I mean, you have just as many haters of Varian as you do lovers; I myself am a fence sitter for him, I love what Varian could become, he has such potentional to be a great leader, equal to Terenas, Lothar and his father. But he needs to get over his hatred of the Orc's before that point, and until he does, he's only going to be seen as a warmongering hypocritc xenophob. It's strange, because you do see some haters saying that there is some good in the Human King, and there are those in the "We love Varian" club who also see there is some darkness in their hero. Blizzard created him perfectly, a way to split the populace of Warcraft, because unlike the other leaders, even Sylvanas, are all... too perfect; Tyrande is the voice of Elune, Malfurion is the all powerful Druid, Thrall is the perfect commander, Sylvanas is the anti-hero you love to hate her, Cairne is the ancient elder, and so on and so forth. But Varian has flaws, and rooting or booing him is actually fun, because you can see your own flaws or good aspects in him.
Then you have Garrosh... who like I said, doesn't work. He is literally one dimensional, you know there is no chance at him ever changing, that he will always be this idiot that people will either remember as the emo leader of the Mag'har, or the pyscho who challenged Thrall as a Lich King invasion was beginning, and the moron who couldn't hold his tongue or his weapons and attacked another Leader on Neutral Ground (and yes I know he was provoked to a point but you see what I'm saying). You don't see Garrosh lovers, you just see haters, people who want him dead.
So, it's a thing to consider; Blizzard actually has a point for creating Varian like they did, and maybe if they would have put at least a little effort into Garrosh, he could have been different as well, and maybe have as many fanboys as Varian does.
So yeah, Varian and Garrosh are suppose to be enemies....... but Varian is the better character.
As for the actual Neutral thing.... don't really have anything else to say there heh.

Well I normally wouldn't stand beside giving any credit to the alliance, I do agree with you Adam that Varian is far more the thought out character in the lore then Garrosh.
I was talking to my friend the other day ingame, about the upcoming expansion, and I mentioned about Garrosh taking the title of Warchief, and her response was.. 'Whos Garrosh?'. She's never taken a great intrest in the deep lore of it, but she knows enough about to know why she likes the horde.. but those details are not something she thinks of
This is the point. Garrosh, despite people saying otherwise, is a nobody. He's the absent son of one of the hordes greatest Warriors, who was left behind by his father and forgotten about. There could have been so much more to him, but all blizzard did was say
'Right, Grom was the biggest antagonist the horde had, so lets just say he had a son, make him into an aggressor, and let him lead the horde as a bigger reason for Varian to go to war with them'
.
The only people who like, or think they like Garrosh, are those that want a reason to kill the alliance without reason or honor or just cause, they want an idiot leader to back up there idiot aggression, and Garrosh fits the bill perfectly.

Because few offenses and insults in this or any other world are sufficient to warrant the slaughter of children
that's a lesson both garrosh and varian need to learn, as those 2 are overly fond of resortign to name-calling, both in the dalaran summit and on the argent tournament.
Skreeran told you once, and now I am telling you again.
Take it too the Varian thread
dude, I take it to the varian thread if it's about varian exclusively, but this is a flaw that affects not just varian, but garrosh as well, and since garrosh is gonna be the next leader of the horde, then his flaw afects us all too.
so no, not taking it to the varian thread, this is something general, true it is a flaw that afects varian ,but several other lore characters have it too (some more than others) and it's that generalization of resorting to name calling that I debate here.
if I wanted to do some varian bashing I'd doit on the proper thread as it's suposed to be done, but I don't wanna bash him (for now)
