I got a PSP 4 years ago, and I only liked 2 of the 15 games I ever got.
I got a DS this past Christmas, and I love every minute of it. Plus Pictochat is an epic win. I can imagine the DSi's little camera and voice editing features are even more fun.
If I were you, I'd get the DSi.

Get the DSi so that you can play Pokemon with Laihendi.

Also, brb, searching for my DS

Laihendi recommends DS lite so you can migrate pokemon from your GBA games. Why even buy a DS if not to play pokemon?
Pokemon.
Laihendi would definitely choose the DSi over the PSP. There aren't really any PSP games that interest him.

As a Sony "fanboy" (never really had interest in Nintendo) I must say that the DSi interests me far more than the PSP Go, especially since the Go has no UMD, and you have to download all of the games. The DSi would be less of a hassle and more a casual device, while the PSP Go would have you tethered to a wall sometimes (lower battery life) but with greater game quality, in the sense of graphics, which are close to that of a PS2, whereas the DSi has a little bit better than the N64.
EDIT: After a tad bit of looking around, the PSP Go seems to be a multimedia device that parallels the iPod Touch/iPhone, in the sense of having picture capabilities, movies, internet, games, and other nifty things. Having read over what you like, I would say that the PSP Go/PSP would be a far better choice, in the fact that it offers a less-casual selection of shooters (although not great to play on the PSP), racing games, platformers, and such. The PSP go comes out October 1, btw, so you would have to wait if you want a newer version of the PSP.

Everyone knows that N64 is way cooler than the PS2.
On the subject of batteries, DS lite has longer battery life than DSi, even though it takes a little longer to charge completely.

I have both, and I must say that the DS has a significantly stronger library of titles to choose from. There are some exceptional games for the PSP, don't get me wrong, but for every one good PSP title there are at least 15 DS titles worth owning. I'm looking forward to Scribblenauts on the DS and Dissidia Final Fantasy on the PSP - ultimately, just do some research and decide on the console you feel that you will enjoy more games on. I couldn't live without Pokemon, Phoenix Wright, and some contained IP DS titles whereas most of the best PSP titles are just ports / sequels to existing PS2/PS3 titles. Though if you have a PS3, the ability to download and play classic PSone titles from their store on the handheld is awesome (Final Fantasy 7, anyone?).
Also I'd recommend a DS lite over a DSi if you've gotten over the gimmicks.

PsP has better games but can't pull them off with that controller setup. Like MHFU.
DS has simple games for a simple system.
I still vote both are a waste of money though.
Pokemon is not simple.

I vote for DSi.
There a lot of cool games for DS. Such as... uh... the Megaman Star Force series, Henry Hatsworth and the puzzling adventure (Is cooler than it sounds), Another Code and Prof. Layton if you like puzzles, Metriod Hunters and any sequel they make if you like shooters, Golden Sun 3 if you like RPGs...
I also hope they make a new Boktai...
And just to please Laihendi i'm going to say...
"GET DSI U CAN HAZ POKEMON OMG WTF FTW"
btw lol @ the catch rates formula. Got me laughing on the floor for a few mins.

With the new Squigglenauts coming out, I'd definitely go for a DS... but not the DSi, get a DS Lite as Laihendi said, because Pokemon is what Nintendo Handhelds are for.
