Wait, so you can get banned from asking a question on this forum? I thought Wowhead was set at a higher standard.

I've never really used offhands much, I've always used staves, but I guess if you can't find a stave use an offhand.

Because mage DPS is not hard, and frankly, somebody who does not understand game mechanics but who is capable of listening and taking simple orders like "wait ten seconds before you start shooting", "don't stand in the fire", and "watch for injections and run to the wall" is perfectly capable of contributing to a Naxx 25 run.
Your bad luck with drops is not license to be a jerk.
Maybe crappy DPS is easy, but good DPS is not. I don't care what supposed face-roll class you are in. But I guess that's why I'm able to out perform some people that are clinger-ons in progression raiding guilds and are full T8.5 while I'm in a pug achieved T7.5... They do just enough to do "easy mage dps" where I try to actually do well.
BUT posting on a forum IS license to be a jerk!
What if I'm a jerk in real life, do I still need a license to be a jerk on the internet?
But don't worry for both of you, if someone asked me this question in person at let's say, Blizcon, I would respond the exact same way.
^ He earned my respect.
Mine too. I say, good show, sir!
