Could anyone please explain me shot cycles? Just exactly how all the steady shot, and arcane shot cycles work. I'm new to a hunter and just really curious.
Thanks!

Shot cycle refers to how a Hunter effectively lays down damge.
For example: Steady Shot, Auto Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot
This is an example of a shot rotation. It is "really cool" to have something like Aimed Shot for the big "BOOM" damage, but it isn't really efficient. It costs 370 mana for one Aimed Shot. This is one big burst of damage. AND it is a 2.5 second cast. In the same time frame, you should be able to get off the above shot rotation. If you do the math, the aforementioned shot rotation yields more damage and uses less mana.
Tinker around with shot rotations while questing/grinding and you will begin to see what everyone means.
I find Aimed shot isn't useless at all, and if we're just pulling trash mobs, I toss out a MD on the tank, and open with an aimed shot.
Or just open with an aimed shot. That 3 second cast gives the tank a bit to get some aggro.
