Serpent Sting questions (overwrite, timing, ...)

Reading the forums I came to the conclusion that sometimes... even after months of gameplay... I still lack some (basic) knowledge of our class. That's why I need 2 answers:
If 4 hunter Serpent Sting the same target, do the stings overwrite OR do they work on each "separate" refresh cooldown and damage tick?
Considering the Serpent Sting + Chimera Shot combo, the more damage you get from each sting tick the better is for your (overall) DPS. That said, would it be a good practice to re-cast the sting as soon as some specific "powerups" from trinkets/buffs procced?
What's the best way to avoid getting your Hunter's Mark overwritten by other hunters, making your Hunter's Mark glyph completely useless (wasting 100+AP on target)? I am considering PUG situations, of course.
Let me better explain the second point. When I start a fight I do not have any trinket/proc buff. Then I cast Serpent Sting, send pet and start fighting. I usually see 3 buffs pop out almost immediately: Mirror of Truth, Darkmoon Card: Greatness, Signet of Edward the Odd. All of them (almost) at the same time, granting me a super-boost for some seconds.
When that occurs (3 procs for a great AP/haste bonus) would it be good to shot Serpent Sting again? Once casted it would tick with higher damage... and I would keep it refreshed with Chimera, until the end of the fight.
Am I wrong on this approac or this is how it should work?

Ok, very good comment for what concerns Chimera and Ssting, I thank you. Now on the Hunter's Mark subject:
3) The only way to get other Hunters to not over-ride your Improved Mark is to make them aware you have it, and ask them not to. Also... IMO all or nothing with the improved Mark (3/3 and glyph or none)
Last time I pugged Nax25 I was with other 3 hunters and to be honest... it's just impossible to know/notice if someone overrides your Mark. That's bad and when it happens it's like wiping 3 talent points and a Glyph. Of course when it comes to organize a Boss fight is much easier, you just mark, ask peeps to avoid marking and it's done (single target = easy to remember).
That said,
I was considering swapping Hunter's Mark Glyph for Chimera Shot Glyph. Following your advice, I'd also free those 3/3 points of Imp. Hunters Mark for something else, possibly Imp. Steady =>
7/57/7
.
On the long term, that should work better for both trash and boss fights. I underline "should" of course... What do you think about this possible solution?

However, it does also appear that Chimera only refreshes the timer, and will not indefinitely keep up a higher damage sting that had more AP when it started
If that's true I should try to refresh SSting as soon as my trinkets/items proc, so I can keep the ticks with Chimera and benefit from higher AP when I shot SSting the 1st time. Right?

Long as it doesn't disturb your shot rotation.
I tried on dummies testing both full procs (Mirror + Darkmoon card + Rapid Fire + Call of the Wild + Furious Howl) and then zero procs.
Full procs
Sting tick damage 607-678 (average: 650)
No procs
Sting tick damage 606-665 (average: 630)
I did more test batteries but results were more or less the same: sometimes closer to each other, sometimes not... And sometimes completely swapping in favor of "No procs".
Too hard to really understand what should be done.

On Chimera Glyph subject
Tonight I did 2 OS runs -10 and 25- just changing Glyph of Hunter's Mark with Glyph of Chimera Shot. Same gear, spec and stuff as always. Well, random is random I bet... and today my DPS got a nerf like I've never seen before. Where I usually had a DPS around 4300-4400 (overall run), today I could just achieve a sad 3500 (heroic) and 2800 (normal).
Of course it's not a single glyph that makes the difference but damn, it's like my gear suddenly got a full downgrade, doh!
On the Hunter's Mark overwriting subject
Os 10/25 runs had 3 hunters: me (MM) and 2 SV. All of us had Improved HM talented 3/3. Guess what? It was a "overwrite" feast, everyone trying to re-Mark the mob whenever possible (Titan Panel shows debuff icons bigger/smaller if it's yours/others).
Horrible experience, showing a clear problem with this talent/glyph that I never noticed before.

As SV I would not bother with the HM talent personally, there are a lot of good talents I'd be seeing myself passing up and don't think it could compensate for that. I also look for the other debuffs on the target and see if I can see another mark before I cast, but I seem to be the most consistent fellow about getting that up there. I've run with MM hunters that did take the talent and I told them I would let them mark the target and not overwrite theirs, but I ended up putting it up anyway because they just never did. Not sure why though, they wasted their own talents.

The overwriting problem is something that should be solved anyway. If 2 or more hunters have Improved HM and glyph, one of them wont be able to offer his best.
