Seriously, THIS is my raiding UI. Suggestions?

Hey,
For a few weeks now I've been struggling with my UI.
This is how it looks.
I don't have any separate sets for my raiding or questing/soloing UI, so it doesn't get much different from that when I'm soloing. Only the buffs are less and there are no raid frames.
My party frames are awful, (de)buffs are overlapping character frames, ... well, I guess it would be a shorter list to tell what actually is right with my UI.
There must be more user friendly UIs, where things actually work the way they're supposed to? This is getting very, very bad.
I'm using a 1024x768 resolution.
Quite frankly I just want an easy to use UI where I can actually see other things than raid frames and text everywhere.

KILL IT WITH FIRE.
First, get rid of xperl. Instead, replace it with Pitbull. Or at least turn off the buffs showing on all frames, you don't need them.
Next up, get rid of buff bars. That's a luxury reserved for short time procs. Go back to icons.
Then, get rid of titanpanel. Get FuBar, set it to auto-hide - you still get the information when you push the mouse to the edge of screen, but free space at other times.
These three things can be done quickly and relatively painlessly, and will net a huge improvement. Now, if you have some time on your hands, arm yourself with Pitbull, Bartender 4, ButtonFacade, Chinchilla and Satrina Buff Frame and go to town. Read the 'Show your UI' threads for inspiration, then just experiment. I'll throw in a (bit outdated) screen from
my UI
. Essentially same functionality as yours, but more viewing space :)
Now, that's if you want to make your own. And I do encourage you to try - it is tons of fun, and you can get things just the way you would like them. However, if you do not feel too creative,
this
might help.

I would suggest starting by deleting your WTF, Cache and Interface folders.
Completely
.
Then in game, use the UI scale and set it to as low as possible. Already there is lots more space!
Then install Deadly Boss Mods. You are now prepped for raiding.
At your resolution space is at a premium and the basic UI with DBM will not only be perfectly functional, it will also leave plenty of space in the centre of your screen with should help in spotting the fire you're standing in.
Remember, addons are supposed to be used to
display the information you need to know while hiding the info you don't
. Do you need to see all those buffs on your party? For that matter, as Ret, do you need to see your Raids Health? Lose every addon that just displays pointless info, and cut it down to what you need.

I kinda agree with you here.

Yes, yes you need. Mouseover lay on hands or HoP can save a life. Lots of bars dropping means it's good time to pop Bubble+DG combo. Instant flash heals in KT encounter are awesome. In the end, you want to see who is still alive to DI. The list goes on.

1) Porky's is NOT your friend. It's using you.
2) Big black boxes are ugly. You could get away with having the chat background semi-transparent.
3) Xperl... lets leave it at that.
Pitbull
is way more customizable. If you don't feel like customizing yourself, check out
oUF
- its got plenty of aesthetically pleasing pre-made
layouts
.
4) You can use something such as
nMainbar
to get rid of buttons that you dont need (the bag buttons, micromenu bar, etc.) and move the chat frame to the bottom left, and Omen to the bottom right.
5)
GRID
!
6) Dr. Damage (or whatever it is) is not necessary when you raid - it's nice when you are learning new spells, but at the moment, is taking up some much-needed real estate.
7) Get something like
Minimap Button Frame
to clean up that map of yours.
Just do what works for you.

What all are you using to manipulate your minimap like that? Changing the clock to not have a border, having the tracking button turn into plane text, your durability percent, etc.

From my knowledge of the addon database I believe the minimap is rMinimap (configured with .lua) and SLDataText for the text surrounding the minimap..

Chinchilla with gloss skin (shiiiinies) for map, SLDT for the text :)

True that. I play a Rogue, Warlock and DPS Death Knight, so i tend to forget that there are classes out there that care about the raids overall survival. I just try make the boss go dead faster.

OP here.
I took a bit of everyone's advice and added in a bit of my own, and
this
is what I got.
There's still stuff that isn't quite as I would like them to be, but I will get them sorted later on.
Either way, it's a lot better than
that bloody mess
it used to be.
Thanks to all who contributed! :)

That is one of the biggest single reincarnation improvements I've seen to a UI. Going from what you started with to that UI is impressive.
Keep up the good work.
Also, check out "Aloft" if you like using unit Nameplates.

Heh if your anything like me working on your UI is an addiction once you get started you can not stop until you think it's perfect. I'd be changing the settings in the middle of the raid because the original setup just didn't seem to work the way I wanted it to.
