Self cast macro plus another macro on the same macro!
Return to board index
I have all spell on a macro of this type:
/cast "heal spell"; "damage spell"
now, if I try to self cast by using the wow self-cast feature (e.g alt key) this does not work, so I have to double the healing
spell macros with
is there a way of solving this?
you know what, on second thought, the following should also work to your intents:
(can't check since I'm not at the PC)
/cast Damage; Heal
as then the Heal should be cast normally, adhering to self-cast rules.
If not, see below:
/cast Heal; Damage
The first bracket emulates the self-cast, if Alt is pressed, redirect the Heal to the player (you)
If that doesn't trigger, the second bracket is evaluted, if you have a friendly target, cast the Heal on them.
If none of those apply, try to cast the Damage spell.
Here's a bonus variant that will cast the Heal on yourself if you have neither a friendly* nor a hostile target. Kinda emulates the auto self-cast option.
/cast Heal; Damage
* not every non-attackable NPC can be healed/buffed, so you may still have some target, e.g. a neutral questgiver, and still use this macro to heal yourself without pressing Alt.
thanks a lot, trying it now
Having tried everything above and played around with it, this feels the best for me as a player.
If I'm holding shift, cast a heal on myself, something else targeted or not.
If it's an enemy I'm targeting, attack it.
Else cast a heal.
/cast Heal; Damage; Heal;
This way, the button is always useful. If I'm not targeting anything the button will always cast a heal on me, shift or not. If I'm targeting a friendly, unless I'm holding shift, that player will receive a heal. If I'm targeting an enemy, unless I'm holding shift, that enemy will take damage. If I'm pressing shift, I will ALWAYS receive a heal, no ifs, ands, or buts.
