Ok guys so I was thinking of rolling a shammy, and i dont have the first clue about them. I am looking at leveling solo for the most part, maybe a group here and there for now. What should I be looking for in gear and what should I be looking for as a spec? Please help me out here, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.
Fixed that for you.
Now for a more serious reply, it's generally accepted that enhance is the easiest way to level. Just focus on strength, stamina, and agility as you level up. Get a beefy two hander like a corpsemaker at 29 and windfury your way through the levels. Don't waste mana on totems or shocks (except rank 1 earth and frost shock to interrupt or snare), so you can instead use it to heal yourself and keep grinding. Dual wield at 40 is sort of up in the air, as it's tough to get decent slow weapons to make it work.
Due to windfury having a 3 second cooldown on procs, you always want weapons of 2.5ish speed or slower so you get the most bang for your buck with the weapon enchant. If you use faster weapons, your number of procs will be clipped by the cooldown and you will gimp your damage even if the dps of your weapons is higher than a slow alternative. Seeing 70 shamans offhanding a Malzacheen just makes me /facepalm.
I just stuck with a beefy two hander until the mid 50s, skipping deeper enhance until I had gotten some of the important resto talents (+10 yards on totems and 70% pushback on heals). Since shamans have no CC abilities, being able to heal yourself is very important for keeping yourself alive.
That's about all the advice I have for now.
