Roll for enchanting mats?

Mining, skinning, Jewel crafting, ect. don't give away there services and why should enchanters. I agree D/E isn't hard work but it was damn expensive to level this skill and it would be hard to argue that it's not the most expensive.
I've been in runs where I get to keep the greens for my D/E skill which I thought was fair.
Because enchanters are taking away things that a player with any other profession could vendor/sell on the AH? I agree there's no way anyone should expect to roll on a shard that the enchanter got by winning a previous roll, but if an enchanter thinks they're getting a tip from me for disenchanting stuff they won because no one else was rolling, I'll just roll on it instead, thanks.

Why would disenchanting be free? So what if it's just the click of a button. That button took a lot of time and gold to get. Do you tip a jewelcrafter for prospecting your ore? It's the same thing. Everything has a price. Anyone who gives their services away for free is a fool and they are the reason people even argue in threads like this one.If I'm bringing items that I have procured on my own to you for use of your profession, then I will tip you. But expecting a tip for disenchanting Heroic drops that you wouldn't have any access to were it not for me and the rest of the group is completely ridiculous.
The differences in scenarios are vast and obvious. In one I'm trading my gold for your service. In the other, I'm trading my DPS for your service.

That argument works for why you have a right to roll on the stuff. It does not however, work for making enchanters waste their time DEing stuff for you for free. If they want to, that's fine, but it's not their responsibility. The differences in scenarios are vast and obvious. In one I'm trading my gold for your service. Not unless you join groups saying "I don't need anything but I'll run any instance you guys need as long as you DE stuff and pay me in shards."

Did you miss the part where we're giving up a roll so the enchanter can get the stuff? If I'm giving up a roll he better damn well be doing it for free.

It's like a Miner/JC rolling against other miners for a node, winning, then being expected to prospect the ore they just won and put the gems up for roll. Same with Scribes and milling.
If people are passing on loot to you know you're an enchanter
then yes, there is that obligation to DE the passed loot.
If you fail to mention you're an enchanter, as I always seem to do, then it's your greeded loot to do with as you will. If they don't like that, tell them to spend the time and money you did to get your enchanting up this high.

Uh, no. Previously there have been many arguments over whether the enchanter gets all the shards for himself just because he's an enchanter.

Enchanters taking all the shards and leaving has happened quite a few times to me actually.
I also had alot of people needing the frozen orb at the end of the run and logging off.
On my server it's common practice for everyone to need on the orbs. Only once have I seen someone greed it. Guess each server has their own rules about those.
OP: As far as rolling on shards, I wouldn't expect to roll on anything the enchanter wins. That's their gear and I don't think anyone else is entitled to what the enchanter chooses to do with that gear unless there has been an agreement made in advance. If I know there is an enchanter in a pug I will ask them to de my wins. I've tried several times to tip and each time the tip was refused, which surprised me a bit.
I'd be furious if someone wanted to roll on a node I've mined or an arctic fur I've skinned in a run. To me, shards fall into this category. People who get mad about not being able to roll on your items should just be put on ignore.

Greedence
My rules are simple I just roll greed on blue/purples and at the end I will de my stuff. If people complain I ask for the blues that they won. I however refuse to DE greens without a tip, and even then I still just tend to ignore it since it just isnt worth the time.
Most of the time i run heroics with my guild and everyone knows I am an enchanter anyways so I dont know if this helps.

I stopped telling people I was an enchanter after I got kicked from a group for not DEing everyone's greens.
