Rogue or Mage?

So I'm coming back from a 3 month break from WoW and was thinking of rolling a new toon. My main (and only 80) is a shadow priest who I'm also thinking about healing with soon. Anyways, I was watching a couple videos from Mage/Rogue perspectives and liked all the big shiny numbers that were popping up.
I'm stuck between them, on one hand:
Mage:
Utility spells(buffs, consumables, portals, etc)
Pewpewpew
big
damage numbers
but, cloth is squishy.
Rogue:
Stealth
Survivability
Different game from melee perspective
I was even thinking of maybe doing a little PvP on the side, because I could never accomplish this on my priest, so I think the idea of a rogue shines better in that light.
Just looking for your insight and experiences. Thanks!

Mages are far more liked than Rogues.
Besides, throwing off consistant Crits in the range of 12-13k? Enjoyable to watch.

When it comes to squishiness both of them will get one shotted by a raid boss. Both classes have little raid utility (No/Weak buffs), compared to say something like a Shaman or Druid, Mages do have 3% raid damage now, or 5% Spell Crit for that raid and spell steal. Rogues have the interupts.
Rogues you'll need to be on the ball for bosses where you have to move away from them (like Emalon for example). Mages you can stay in one spot for nearly an entire battle.
Both are going to top your dps meters. As for leveling, i've heard mixed things about rogues, and mages are hard to level til about 40ish, though it may be different now for both classes due to the LFD.
Either way, it's really down to whether you want to play a ranged class or a melee. But seeing as how you do have a Spriest, maybe a rogue might be better, you won`t be going around looking for the same gear you already got for your priest.

Seeing how you already have a caster dps I definitely recommend a rogue for trying out different play style.
Rogue is quite fun and enjoyable to level, albeit tricky to level, because of several factors mention below
+ you can avoid many if not all mobs on "bring x items" quests thanks to such tools as
Stealth
and
Sap
+ you can
Vanish
out of combat in case things look grim
+ you can easily take on several mobs if leveling as Combat, thanks to
Evasion
and
Blade Flurry
+ as opposed to mage you don't have to worry about running low on resource used for your spells and abilities
+ you can stunlock a mob, watching him die without being able to even damage you
+ Rogue PvP is
very
interesting experience
- even though you are not as squishy as a caster, you ain't exactly tank either. Given that and absence of healing ability so be sure to keep your
First Aid
in adequate condition. Consider getting Herbalism for
Lifeblood
and Alchemy for assorted healing potions while leveling to minimise downtime even more.
- while possible, different from Combat leveling specs are not exactly effective at least until level 40 (will be happily proven wrong on this though)
I am afraid I can't provide the same list for mage as my alt is of level 8 currently :) Hope this helps in making the decision.

I'm going to chime in on Rogue. I won't repeat what
benkarioz
said, he's correct. It is very enjoyable to play.
In addition to First Aid, if you level your lock-picking as you go, you can make a bit of extra cash out of tips when in town. I usually make around 30g a night just from that. On a good night when the server's busy, I've made as much as 120g. Not exactly dailies kind of cash, but you get it for clicking a button. It's free gold, basically.
The counter-point to that of course, is that mages can port people for tips, but there's a bit more effort involved. I never have to move from where I am to do a lock-pick.
Dungeon wise, rogues and mages can top the DPS charts, so you're not going to be sub-par. Just remember to re-spec out of Combat and in to Mutilation when you hit 80.
Also, it's never been easier to level a Rogue. You will start out with dual-wield now (used to have to wait to level 10 for that), and as you have a main you can send heirloom items (this applies to the mage too), so the rogue-levelling process will be far easier than it was for existing rogues (and it wasn't *that* difficult, it could just get interesting when walking over campfires whilst stealth.... don't stand in the fire! =) )
And Rogues get
way
more women than mages.
