There's a blatant lack of ranged dps in game lately. The gaming field is saturated with Pallys, DKs, Rogue, and Warriors.
Go with the Mage.

Mage.
I love being able to just port around all over the place. I've made quite the killing selling ports from Org to UC to TB to SMC and back to Org the last couple days. 40G round trip.
Leveling a mage is not as bad as some people make it out to be. Sure, you might spend 10 seconds eating/drinking after a few pulls, but you blew those few mobs away in about 20 seconds faster than you would have been able to do with a rogue. Sure, rogue single target DPS is higher while leveling, but try pulling 8-12 mobs at a time and not only surviving, but killing them all.
Leveling a rogue "requires" stealthing around and garroting things, but movement speed is terrible while in stealth. What's worse? 3-4 seconds of stealth movement on every mob or up to 20 seconds eating/drinking after 7-8 mobs?

It's like this:
If you want The ability to dismount people in mid-air, teleport yourself and others places and deal Ranged DPS, and are okay with having to kite things around while leveling or else you will get injured greatly then: Play a Mage.
If you want to deal amazing melee DPS, be able to kill people (most of the time) in mid-air through creative use of engineering (unless you are okay with dying each attempt), be able to stealth around, and be able to dump some aggro onto the tank + give a damage increase buff (Tricks of the Trade) and are okay with being slightly squishy and having to take the hits of whatever you fight while leveling and WILL get injured (but probably not too greatly) then: Play a Rogue.

Not entirely true, a rogue can get by without stealthing too much while leveling.

Your rogue is already at 39, so you've probably started noticing, but it will just get worse over the next several levels. And that is, your hit rating sucks, and there's not much at all for gear in the next level span that has any hit on it. Enjoy that.

that's a lie, i tell you! my assasin lvl 52, nearly(might 2 misses with ure melee weapons in combat) always hit but never experience that both evis and kidney miss in the same fight!
but both class a cool.
you decide!
I must just suck. I've had (yes, I counted) 6 various special moves in a row miss/dodge/parry on my current rogue (was 44 at the time)
*weeps in corner*
