Ret Instance Soloing (Higher level Instances)

I want to start farming higher level instances and possibly some heroics and old world raids, I can handle all the old world 5 mans just fine and all of the earlier (non-lvl 70) BC instances.
Here's a link to my armory page for reference to my current specs.

Yes I know that some obvious gear issues are prevalent which I'm working on (I actually have to play on dial-up for now which prevents me from raiding and becomes an issue in most 5 mans).
Any general tips for increasing my survivability that doesn't pertain to gear related issues that I already know about? Multiple mob encounters? Mana management? When to use certain abilities?
I know that when it gets right down to it, knowing the instance and the bosses is really the most essential tool to knowing what to do. I'm really looking to just step up my A-game for PvE survival as Ret and make a profit.

I feel your pain.
This is going to get alot harder next patch. Say goodbye to our 30 sec priest bubble. Also, we dont know what you know about in terms of gearing, so its kind of hard to give you advice here.
I do know Vindication is going to help you survive better than PoJ. Also 3 from SotP to iRF if youre having survivability issues. Your DPS will go down by like 3% though. LoS mages etc.
Also, remember your hitcap is 7%, so you can probbaly get rid of that gem in your belt for a good 40ap.

The biggest advantage is if you have done the fights before. Knowing which mob does what will help a lot more than 40 AP will.

What specifically do you want to know about what I know about gearing? Are you referring to my knowledge of which stats to stack? What gems to use? Enchants?

He didn't ask for your knowledge of gearing...

Sure I would of said this too, but Bluberri already explicitly said the same.

The thing is it already sounds liek you know what youre doing encounter-wise, unless you have specific inquiries on a certain part of an instance. And you said you dont want gear advice.. unfair!

Alright, alright, I wont deny any gear advice if you have some to give, I just know that I can pretty much only try to farm badges for better loot since I can't raid for now. As for specific instance inquiries, I suppose those would come after hitting snags. One that I can recall is Nethermancer Sepethrea in the Mechanar. I'm farming Sha'tar rep and I can't seem to get past her.
Is it possible to solo farm H Magister's Terrace, Zul'Gurub (excluding Hakkar) and Attumen the Huntsman in Kara? I'd like to be able to solo them for mount runs if I can. Attumen will probably be out of reach without at least one other person I know. Any ret specific strategies you can give for those specific instances?

I'm sure there will always be decent drops to put in the AH or sell to vendors. There's no such thing as "bad" money. I wasn't really looking to make a profit, I make profit through dailies and selling herbs and flasks on the AH.
There is really more of an intangeable value for me in that I can really nail down my techniques and skills through some challenges. There are a blue-million paladins on EVERY server, I figure that if you want to stand out and make yourself known, you have to step up your game and be the person who knows what the %^&* they are doing.
I know I may be changing things from ret to a more generalized paladin thread here. However, I believe that the versatility of the paladin class, i.e. being able to cover all three roles: heals, dps, tank, makes it awfully necessary to know your strengths AND weaknesses and build upon them so that you can take full advantage of that class versatility. Challenges like soloing instances that may normally be a little too hard to take alone AND rising up to meet them is a sign of maturity in your gaming.
I may not be a great player compared to the true elitists and masters of the game, but I know when I need improvement and I can discover what it is I need to improve upon. This is the main reason I have for wanting to solo higher level instances. Monetary gains and (as I stated earlier) getting things like mounts or new recipes I didn't have before, are just icing on the cake.
