I put my pvp gear on in 25 man last night and was almost at 30k health which is nice but does the resilience help in this fight?

Useless. You will take less damage from crits and spells, correct, but your reduced damage will likely not be enough.

I figured it wouldn't matter at all but I thought I would ask.

My guild keeps the tanks as tanks simply to keep the heavy hitters busy. Agro can be held on average for 4 seconds. We focus burn the healers(requires constant interrupts) and CC any of the interrupters, ie rogues, shamans. We ignore the mage, moonkin, hunter typically except for fear bombing as much as possible.

This fight is very different than a normal encounter. Aggro means squat. Out of nowhere, you can get focused on and die within a matter of seconds of you're a clothie. Without proper CC or control of the fight, you WILL lose. This is why PUGs tend to fail here, they have no coordination. With the Faction Champs, there is no "knowing the fight" per say. DBM won't be able to help you on this fight. While i agree that you can't control wether a mob has agro on you or not, there are ways to avoid getting pummeled to death (at least in normal mode), like simply moving away and using your defensive CDs. The reason why most pugs fail is not simply coordination (though it helps tremendously to have the melee tanks be able to say who's being focused) but simply because people "stand in the fire" instead of trying to avoid some of the incoming damage nby themselves.

In normal mode you can take some degree of a beating, but our raid leader says this week after week for heroic: "If you are a caster or a healer, your MUST kite. It is impossible to heal through the damage of even one melee mob if you just stand there and take it."
On regular we have our tanks taunt and snare. In heroic tanks are still on full-time snare duty, and call out in vent the melee's target so they know to be ready to move.
Besides, it's a good idea to have tanks in tanking gear because of the way heroic mode turns out. Routinely we'll find 3-5 mobs "stuck" on a tank for longish periods of time, so they can just stand there getting beat on while the damagers go about their business taking down their target.
As for the original question about Resilience, I can't answer the question. I would assume that the crit and damage reduction of resilience would not apply since this is PvE, but it's of course possible that Blizzard has tweaked it for this fight (in much the same way they gave PvP DR to all the CC for this fight only). Regardless, none of us ever use resilience for this fight. A PvP spec can be useful, but we don't use PvP gear.
