Dont be harsh on him. He just repeats what he was told. Also think that if this is his first char at 76 he has that experience we had at 56 or 66 for some.
Dks at 1 vs 1 truly are a prob. Wanna try the new shadowflame glyph to see any improvments. But you will melt hunters at world pvp. You will learn when to cast fear or when to not cast it. Youll grow eventually at a very good pvp class.

Keep in mind that resil is also one of the only things (along with Soul Link, of course) that can keep us alive when we get bursted on by a ret paladin or something like that.

You got jumped unprepared in World PvP by a class with a bunch of front-loaded burst damage in PvE gear. Ignore what half of the haters in here are saying, there isn't much you can do in that kind of situation. Get to 80 where PvP matters, then re-evaluate.

I leveled in 70 pvp gear too. I could kill a rogue and a warrior humping on me the same time in world pvp. I was lauphing at green - blue quest rogues that tryed to kill me on my xp. Even with mobs on me I could easily kill em.

Thanks for the support folks, I knew the second I read up on how Resilience rating works that it smelled of anti-affliction.
A little history might help here. There was a time when resilience affected only crit chance with no impact on dot damage at all. Unsurprisingly affliction warlocks then did very very well in arena combat as they could reduce their chance to be crit but no one could defend against your dots.
Eventually(in patch 2.2.3) resilience was updated to reduce dot damage and allow all classes to scale roughly evenly as they added additional tiers of pvp gear.
In 3.1 you saw a nice buff to dot damage with the addition of full crits to their ticks. Sadly yes this does mean that resilience counters a higher percentage of your damage than it used to but you are also now doing more damage.
Calling resilience "anti-affliction" isn't really accurate, it just hasn't been updated to account for the most recent affliction buff. Propably due to the quite legitimate fear that locks could become unfairly deadly again if the dot damage reduction was removed.

Speaking more constructively, against a pala you should really have the edge. Keep using CoE to slow the bugger down, get your fel puppy to Steal his buffs, Basically just keep using your DoTs and CoE to kite him and slowly wear him down. If he gets in close use fear, HoT or if he really gains on you then use Death Coil to force some space between him and yourself. I beleive the max Res can offer anyone is a 15% reduction (can someone confirm this?) if capped so you can still kill them, it just requires alot more skill and a bit of luck.
Sounds great. But if it is a ret pally w/
PoJ
and his
bubble
not on CD, you are toast. 12s of him kicking your butt and no chance to outrun him.

Well, in a perfect duel/fight/world, portal + run away :D
I make sure to drop a portal every 50 yds or so when I pvp, that fifth of a second you stop running really helps when you're in wsg doing something.
As for resiliance, I really didn't see a need for it to be honest, I'm in BiS pve gear with a few pvp pieces that I got just because I wanted to prepare for arena, too late though, but regardless, I got pants, boots, and a trinket. I'm doing just as well as I did when I was in pve gear, pre and post 3.1, I was destro pvp, I stomped almost every class/spec.
The only exceptions that I just could not handle was:
Rogues, that resetting the opener really is what owns me, if I break their stun, and start my rotation, they just cloak and vanish, just to restart, I cannot get out of it in time to do anything before they eat my health down.
Unholy DKs, now I have no problem with any DK, just the ghoul... that 3 second stun is what owns me.
Holy pallys, the combination of them having a full heal, immune bubble, and a shield that is almost always up, I run out of mana and life tap myself to death before I can get a chance.
Me boasting aside, Resilience may not be useful since the game is reliant around burst damage, but I believe later in the game, resilience will be tweaked to help people survive burst damage, that's why I'm stock piling a bunch of it now, just to be safe.

Only against certain classes though. If a class relies heavily on Crit (Boomkin anyone?), resilience will rape it. If a class does alot of smaller hits (Rogues) or can crit/hit outrageously high anyway (DK/Ret pally) you will need a rather high amount (600+) resilience before you start noticing a difference in survival.
I am actually tempted to try wearing PvE gear as a Destro lock in BGs right now, Chaos Bolt and Conflag are critting crazily high nowadays (even when wearing PvP gear).

That's pretty much the idea of resilience now, and when it was implemented. It reduces chance to crit and crit damage; it helps you survive burst by preventing/minimizing it. Resilience is very useful no matter what stage you're at.
My shadowpriest has 4/5 S1 gladiator gear, but it's about 200 resilience and gives me over 12k hp self-buffed in BGs (when I choose to use the PvP gear), and that still gives me over 1k spell damage self-buffed. Did some WSG today, and when you're not at caps where PvP=resilience you realize how ridiculously useful (read: necessary and kinda OP) it is.
In my PvE gear I get 1800 SP, 20k+ health, I can 3-5 shot most people if they're not focusing me.
Resilience from launch to sorta 3.1, was useless, now that everyone has res gear, I see a need to get it, since my burst won't do as much to them, shouldn't take the chance of them doing much to mine.

Mages and warlocks both get away from that problem via Blink or Demo Circle. If you are in an arena (where the pally will be tunnel-visioning you while bubbled), not having your Circle up is a sure sign of a bad player. Druids get some distance via Travel form (till he JoJs them), and rogues can always vanish. Priests can mass-dispel the bubble, warriors can dispel the bubble...
IMO no class has any excuse for not surviving the 12 seconds of "lawl". Is it fair that paladins get a "fight reset" when no other class does? Not really. Is it survivable? Yes.
