Leviticus 23:3-44
No mention of any 'High Holy Days'. The sabboth is outlined, and the day of atonement, passover, and it designates certain days for certain things, but I don't see this label applied.believe it or not it is the most important thing in the BibleJesus disagreed:One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?" "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." Also, you really need to work on your punctuation. Punctuation, though, is one of those things that is not required.

Actually he's right that it's not a required taste. In fact it's not a taste at all.

Youre right about the Jesus excerpt....i was speaking of the old covenant...Jesus IS the new covenant...very good.
I'm surprised there is such a distinction between the two, and confusion. At the time Jesus spoke those words, he was under the old covenant. He was a Jew, after all. So, I have to say I disagree with you. That commandment, which he said was the greatest, was always the greatest, and I see no reason to think otherwise.
Edit: Seriously, you think there is something greater than to love God?

It's this kind of thinking that Jesus taught against. The backward thinking, like strict adherance to rules, such as not working on Saturdays, was more important than to revere and love God. That's why the Pharasees hated Him. They were being forced to see thier own hipocracy, and wrong interperetation.

I believe the Big Bang or at least an equivalent event happened. I believe evolution is real and has been going on for millions of years. I believe all that we were taught in science class back in school.
And I believe in God, that He has been guiding all of this since the beginning. I believe He spread His message to every culture and that fundamentally, all religions speak His truth. I believe that it is faith that determines someone's afterlife.
This is part of why I think the term "Christian morality" is an oxymoron; tricking and threatening people into doing things and acting in certain ways doesn't make them better people. People should want to do what is good for other people in society because it is good, not because they feel they're entitled to some reward.
Just because some "Christians" pervert their faith like that doesn't mean that all of them do. Most Christians I know do good deeds just to help people, not for rewards.

Why are we debating religion again? It seems to me that it is here to stay although the number of people that truly follow their faith are dipping. Also, wouldn't the idea of a debate mean that by weighing the positives and negatives people are lead to believe one side is correct? I don't see this happening, so again, why are we debating religion again?
Because it and politics are the topics were people fight tooth and nail to prove their ideas are right. Its a waste of time, but pretty entertaining to watch.
