Okay, trying to figure out if
Reinforced shadowstrike
is a better arms weap than
Stormune Edge
? Factor in the polearm will give me +crit with the ability vs a sword procing which is fairly useless
My use for this is raid pve, they seem *almost* the same, but the polearm has bigger dps listed but its faster..
If I equip the polearm, my damage in the char screen is 1885-2222, if I equip the sword it's 2005-2300.

Their weapon damage is almost exactly equal, so the DPS difference just means the polearm will have higher white damage and rage generation. Your instant attacks will hit equally hard with the two weapons.
Then it comes down to which is better for you, the crit, AP, ArPen and white DPS on the polearm or the crit, AP and ArPen on the sword; plus which weapon spec you prefer.
Since poleaxe spec is better than sword spec, I'd say there's a good chance the polearm will be preferable. But do check it in a spreadsheet or Rawr.

This goes for your autoattacks. Your polearm will hit faster, but the individual hits will be a little softer; overall white DPS will still be better with the polearm though. Your instant attacks (mortal strike and whatnot) do not directly use this number, since almost all instant attacks are normalized. Normalization means that slower weapons don't get a higher AP contribution to the damage of instant attacks than faster weapons; they both count as the same speed for that purpose (this is divided into categories: twohanders get most effect of AP, onehanders less, and daggers least).

Polearm spec > Sword spec. ALWAYS.
Unless you're going from an ilvl 100 polearm to an ilvl 245 sword, please use the polearm.

thanks for the answers guys..
of course, after doing this and then testing the two weps out on the training dummies for an hour today,
Ramaladni's Blade of Culling
dropped, thus rending all of this moot.
doesn't it always work out like that? :)
p.s., yeah, the polearm is better anyhow. But I look like a damn hunter with it equipped!
