I got the shadowstrike last night in Ony 25 man, i htought i was really lucky to get it since i was still carrying the undeath carrier from 25 man naxx. Well when i won it i was told to give it to the druis tank so he could split it and give me back to shadowstrike. Even though i really thought it sounded good to do so, i did not and i have been catching all kinds of greif for it. maybe i should have. Everything i read on this weapon, to me is kinda of confusing, and i need to know exactly what it does. I want a clear answer. Does it summona brand new thunderstrike? then i would have 2 weapons or does it just transform the shadowstrike into the thunderstarike like to old version did.? Should i have traded the shadowstrike to the druid tank and let him split them and trust that the person was not lying to me or just kept it like i did. And for a final thought is this weapon any good for me at this point, Here is a link to my armory so u can see the gera i got to go with it.

Well thats what i thought at first and i had only 2 hours really to try to figure out. My hunter, The druid tank and several others from the raid really tries to figure out what it does. I wanted to trade it to the druid and see but with such a great weapon was just unable to be sure of what i was doing was infact the right choice.

Ok dude u say that but i was infact a pug run and i hinestly did search the web and talked to others in the raid aswell as my guild about this issue. I was about to infact trade the weapon off to make the thunderstrike to the tank druid but i just wasnt for sure. So plz do not tell me i did not give it alot of thought because for 2 hours, or less that that really i stood in IF with 10 others from the raid on my guilds vent disscussin what i needed to do but no one for for sure....really. And to be completely honest with u if it was infact a guild run and not a pug, i would not have given it a second thought. But when i won the weapon i was just so excited i won it that really the joy of getting a new kicka@# weapon was kinda of overwealming because i didnt want to screw up, so we did infact search dude, and if u would read up some i said i did. All i wanted from this post was to know if there is another weapon better than this for a hunter and to understand fully what it did because i did not want to change the weapon at all, and thats what i was afraid of. So plz bro next time if ur not going to be nice, dont help or answer stuff, because no matter how long i have been playing, i still learn new things everyday. that why i posted here......TO LEARN. And thanks to everyone else for helping understand what this weapon does, thanks for input fellas

Don't feel bad about taking a very nice weapon in a PuG. Just assume that they would do the exact same thing to you if the situations were reversed because that is very likely the case.
In guild runs you need to do what's best for the guild and for progression (and also keep ppl happy by making the correct decisions), but in PuGs don't turn down big upgrades just because they might be a little bit bigger for somebody else.

They wanted you to trade it with the Feral, he would use, summon the Thunderstrike then give you back the Shadowstrike.
The summoned weapon can only be used to the one who summoned it while the original can still be traded.
The only reason not to do that is if you don't trust the guy who is going to summon the new pole, as he may not give you the Shadowstrike back.

Really, the mistrust issues that people have, although i can't say I don't see where you guys are comin from, the net is full of people that will screw you over without a second thought.
However good this weapon might be (almost BiS, please), the proc is useless for hunters, thus a part of the itemization is useless for you, so the stats you can use would be equivalent to a lower ilvl weapon.
The stat stick issue is a perfectly reasonable argument, it's like saying a warrior or rogue has just as much right to roll on a gun or a bow as hunters and that just ain't right.
The reason blizz let hunters use almost every weapon is so that fewer weapons get sharded, not for us to take them from melee dps.
@OP, don't give us bs about 2hrs of worrying and research, I used wowhead and read the comments on the weapon and found what it did in 5 minutes. You were greedy and are using this thread to justify your actions. It's bits of data, good for another month until 3.3, whoopie. grats on your win, I hope you aren't on my server giving hunters a bad name.

I don't see what the big deal is. It was a pug group. Tell me, how many of you would have traded the weapon, and trust the faceless druid on the other side of the country with that kind of weapon?
Not I, that's for sure. Unless it's somebody in a reputable guild, or somebody I've grouped with before. No thanks. Not going to take that chance.

I can confirm it spawns a whole new Weapon you get both. But only the original can be traded with Party members.
I believe this was hotfixed sometime in the past two weeks, now both weaps become soulbound (i think). We tried it in my guild and it didnt work

could avoid all this drama if blizz just kept the way the summon worked where using it replaced the weapon with its counterpart, it worked perfectly fine that way, didn't flood your bags, and after so many uses was just as effective instead of charges that become useless
why they chose the change idk
the only concern i could foresee would be chants, if it kept its chant when it was replaced by its counterpart would each form have its own chant or would the weapon as a whole only retain 1 chant?
i'd imagine each form would retain its own chant as bears would want mongoose, cats would want berserking, tank DKs would want gargoyle, dps DKs would want fallen crusader which may be the problem, maybe blizz couldn't/didn't feel like worrying about 2 chants on 1 weapon and them functioning properly but even so, i'd rather them work like their predecessors at the cost of 1 form having a less than top notch chant than having the current summon function and using the best chant on each
