I look very forward to this feature indeed. When cataclysm hits my balance druid will be jewelcrafter and leatherworker. Then i can finally remove some of that spirit blizzard insist on putting the leather spell gear. Maybe i wouldnt have to need on cloth gear anymore.

I'm not meaning to be overly flamey but:
Reforging
- allows Tailor to modify cloth gear, Leatherworkers to modify leather, etc.; Specifically, they can reduce a single statistic on applicable items and
convert the lost points into another stat not already on the item
; this service can also be provided to other players if you see fit

it would be funny since im a enginner i could add lazers cannions on my armor.....gnomes beware
Except they do trinkets and ranged.
How would they modify thrown weapons? I guess they could tape a rocket to it.
here comes the tanking warrior's dream: +300 STA items in every slot. overspecialisation, here we come!
Remember that, due to the way Blizzard's stat system works, items have a budget of stats based on their rarity and ilevel (e.g. a rare ilvl 300 item will have more stats than an uncommon ilevel 300 item). In order to help manage this budget, the more points of a stat that are on an item, the more each of those points cost. If an item has 60str,90sta,60crit, don't expect that you can remove 60crit and bump up your stamina (which ordinarily costs less per point than other stats, due to the stamina bump from TBC) on the item to 180 - you might only manage 150 or even 120.
None for scribes.
I doubt alchemists get anything either.
