To be honest. I do not know if mixing them doesn't help but I do know that without t8 4set ap and agility are pretty much equal.

If at all possible go with 4xT8.5 and stack all agil. If not then just use all AP sense that's what you seem to have the most of. For yellow you want to go with orange agil/crit and blues go with AP gems and ignore your socket bonus, except in 1 piece of gear for you meta use a 10 to all stats.
10 to all stats = Nightmare Tear

Because of this, I have a different take on things. Because attack power and agility on gems are virtually equal for DPS, look at the other things to make your decision. Agility adds to your dodge, armor and crit, thus, DPS being equal, I gem for agility all the way. More bang for you buck that way. Also, unless it is a large socket bonus of agility or attack power, blow it off to gem all red, all the time. Use one nightmare tear to activate your meta and blow off the rest of the color slots unless you really need something to get to a cap.

One is better than the other. Use a spreadsheet to find out which, and gem that one.
It's theoretically possible to be exactly on the breakpoint such that alternating AP and Agi is the best option, but that's
massively
unlikely.

Obviously one is better than the other, however, when the difference is somewhere around 25-50 maximum theoretical DPS for changing out all the gems you have one way or the other, then other factors begin to weigh into the consideration unless you are simply going for absolute theoretical maximum in which case, live by the numbers.
For utility, survivability, and cost measures, until there is a statistically significant benefit that I can see, I don't dump a load of cash to change gems around. To me, a 0.7% increase in maximum theoretical DPS is not statistically significant.
