Has anyone experienced a phenomenon where someone will actually wisper you and talk to you before asking if you want to buy gold?
I was wispered by a 78 Mage who asked if I had any gold when when I said I have as much as I need he asked if I wanted to buy 11.5k really cheep. He then made various level 1 toons and kept asking me if I wanted to buy the gold, each time I told him no and reported him.
Are gold sellers actually using real people instead of bots now?

It's actually a new thing, I think gold sellers are starting to have *standards*
Basically, if they whisper you and you respond, then they can start pitching gold, but if you don't respond, they won't bother you again.
Basically, if someone whispers you and you have no idea who it is, or there is no reason why anyone should be whispering you at the time, just don't answer. If they don't say anything after that, it was probably a gold seller.

I ran into a new one the other day. Someone was posting Purple Epics for sale in Trade. Never seen any of them before so I whispered them if they came from Uld. I received a whisper back that was for gold selling - power leveling and purchasing the items he/she was listing for real cash. Reported them but they are definately being more creative.

I received various PMs from someone who tried to strike up a conversation with me out of nowhere, like we had already met. I thought it mightve been someone I knew on an alt, I asked if it was a guildie, and 'Can I help you with something?'. The response was that this person started calling me a generous kind Sir. (I am female) And proceded to tell me that they were a young chinese girl and selling gold was her part time job and that she needed me to buy gold from her.

Last night I was approached by a level four character. I assumed it was a guildie so I responded. They asked if I had time to talk to them and silly me said sure. Started asking how I was, if I had ever been to their website before, and if I had enough gold. They were extremely polite, though I was polite back, I ticketed a GM and went about my night.
People in my guild were amazed how nice the gold seller was.

It's getting worse on my server. Whisper ads are coming in now for free mounts and other nonsense. They are presented like authentic blizzard communiques asking to visit blizzard like sounding name websites. I already know 2 people who had their toons stolen after they "logged in" with their password. One happened right before my eyes as i saw a guild member log on and just leave the guild and not respond to inquires. I knew this person wouldn't just do something like that and he was still logged into our vent. We we're able to get in touch with him..but it was too late..the account had been changed. Worse..this thief has the nerve to walk around Dalaran spamming items for sale in trade chat. The whole guild has been harassing this thief. After a GM ticket response..it was pretty much drop any ideas you have in our suggestion box. What ! I just told you that this sort of whisper spamming has been going on for weeks and instead of posting a warning in the same box you post maintenance info, telling people not to respond to these bogus whispers..I'm asked to drop a suggestion. Incredible. I know lots of dept store employ plain cloth security acting as customers who monitor actions around them..you would think blizz would have employees gaming as normal players to monitor in real time whats going on in the servers..I guess they are too busy counting their money.
