Some information would be nice:
Computer Model (if it's not custom)
Operating System
Motherboard Model
Old RAM Model
New RAM Model
Processor
That said, did you put the ram in the proper slot? Is there any other ram in the system? Did you check your BIOS settings to ensure that you have your RAM set to auto-detect rather than specified?

Depends on your motherboard, but it's usually holding delete at startup or similar. Once inside you should have a group of settings that control ram timings and other similar things. If those are manually set, you may be unintentionally limiting the performance of your ram, and thus causing it to only display as 512mb.

I Gooogled your MB.
here
Doesn't look like it supports (Kingston DDR2 2GB Desktop RAM 800MHZ)
Notice line 5 under specifications: 2 x DDR2 SDRAMs (DDR400/ 333/ 266)

No that is not what I am saying. You bought 800MHZ Ram and according to this web page, the MB only supports 400/333/266 MHZ ram. Also, why don't you pop your case open and get the MB info (model number, etc.) right off the MB. Sometimes the system info can be incorrect.

"Current RAM: DDR PC2-5200 (512MB)"
That's really odd. Do you have the 512 stick in there, or the 2gig? If you have the 2gig stick in there your system is thinking it's a 512 stick.
As far as the 800mhz RAM vs 400mhz RAM, the memory should automatically throttle down to match the speed of the motherboard (ie. faster ram will work on a slower mobo just fine but at the highest speed the mobo can handle). Unless, of course, that you're forcing the timing of the ram higher than what your motherboard can support via the BIOS.
Either way, something is either faulty with the machines settings, or with the ram stick you're trying to use. Have you tried putting it in another machine and seeing if it properly registers as 2gigs?

Maximum Memory Capacity: 1048576 MB That should hint at something... the model apparently should support 2 GB. That is still less than what you intended but basically this kind of report means there's something wrong with the BIOS that you should try to fix.
Also, DDR and DDR2 are physically different. It won't even fit in the slot properly if it's incompatible.

Another thing to try is updating your motherboard settings. It could simply be that your motherboard did not initially support the RAM you have in the system now, but gained support through a BIOS firmware update later on.
On a completely unrelated note, I love your avatar hezec. Math puns ftw.

Your best bet is to shut off 'quick boot' if you have it inside your bios so that your computer runs the memory test and then see if there are any errors printed on the screen. Honestly, it's either: bad BIOS setting, old BIOS version, bad RAM, or incompatible RAM.

The site linked above says "maximum memory 2GB".
It doesn't say "2GB per slot/chip"
It says "2GB".
So the MB is probably freaking out when it sees the 2GB chip since it doesn't know what to do with it and just reports 512MB.
If you put a 1GB chip in there you'll have no problem.
